Just wondering if there's anything special about this car. There's a girl at my work who has one and it looks pretty darn nice.It has 5.0 HO (or something like that) on the body molding, it seems to have some body effects, it's a ragtop, and my friend looked nto it the other day and saw that it had leather Recaro seats. Was there a special version of the Capri made, it doesn't look like any ones that I have ever seen, and from the way it sounds, I wouldn't want to mess with it.

It is basically the equivalent of a Mustang of the same year (and just as easy to mod). Same drivetrain, same suspension, slightly different body. I think they were made from 1979 to about 1985, but not sure of the exact dates.
Edit: They were actually made until 1986. There are some Capri Club websites available.

Sounds like a Mclaren Capri 5.0L. VERY VERY Rare car! Only a few hundred ever made. I think they were something like $25K back in 1984??
Nothing done to it in terms of engine work...it's mostly just bogy design, a convertible top that is flush retracting like the vette and the fact that it's RARE!

I think I'll try and get a closer lookk at it today, I just remembered that I have seen a McLaren Merc before, that's be really cool to see another one. Anybody got any times for them, or should they be about the same as the 5 liter mustangs.

I'm pretty sure the Mclarens were slower because they weighed more. I personally like the stangs better, but they are rare cars and sell for lots of $$$

Yeah, I just took a real good look at it. It is a McLaren, says it right there on the wheels. Oh and it doesn't say 5.0 HO, it says 5.0 SC. It's a real nice looking car, leather Recaro seats, tan ragtop. It's an auto, would it run like a 5.0 Mustang or did McLaren mess with the engine too? I kinda like it, wouldn't mind having one but I wouldn't trade my camaro.

Mclaren didn't mess with the engine on its Capri's or Mustangs. WHat they did was take the car and make it into a sorta "euro" cruiser. The convertible top is made to tuck into the rear body so you can't see it when it is down just like a benz. On Mustangs, the rear taillights look slightly euroed and the GFX on the Mustangs is slightly similar to the '93 Cobras.
Nothing fancy in terms of performance, BUT, a McLaren Capri is EXTREMELY rare and could be sold for some good $$$.
