Not sure how you would jump out from a dig and ever fall behind like that, but i guess a standard cab 6.0 would run pretty hard, just never seen one like that before. Thought they were high 14 at best most in 15's. L98 should be mid 14's comfortably

Where I work all we use are 6.0 Chevys.....most are single cab......these are the work truck models though......they are not that quick.....to me the older 6.0 single cab trucks are way quicker.......

Re: 88 l98 vs 2010 vortec truck

Dude, it seems like you race everyone and everything that pulls up along side of you. By reading all of youre posts, I think its safe to say. Youre car prob isnt running right at all. Hows the tune? plugs? wires? Sensors? You also said youre tranny is slipping. But yet youre foot remains planted to the floor. Youre most likely down drasticlly on power, and even more on putting that power to the pavement. IMHO you should maintain the car as best you could, and continue to do some performance bolt ons if you like to run it on a daily basis. But beating the hell outta the thing is only gonna put more loses under youre belt. And why did you order headers when you need a tranny? Get the poor car running the way it should be. Then choose youre races wisely. And have fun with it. All just my opinion of course. A bolt on L98 Formy is a nice light to light, 1/8 mile contender. Treat it like it.

its a $1150 craigslist bomb with no paint, a slippin trans, my brakes could use replacing and its not even my daily driver so i wont be driving at all this winter. and actually the motor runs really well. it starts easy, idles smooth, creeps up steep hills at idle. completely new tune up, fast passed emmissions. and since buying i put over 15,000mi. on it and spent about 4-500 in parts, so screw it, il drive it til the wheels fall off. because il buy another one next summer and do it alll over again. and the headers were 150$ and i can reuse them. ill maintain my engine but that car is junk.

Re: 88 l98 vs 2010 vortec truck

Kids like you are the reason why the majority of good third gens are junked, and by the way if your losing to 3/4 ton trucks your car must be one slow L98. Why not sell your formula to a adult that will repair it properly and love it. Plus any mature adult with sanity would fix there brakes instead of installing some cheap headers! Stop racing anything that lines up next to you cause your embarrassing us and yourself.

my brakes have been fixed my tires are new and my tune up is 5000 miles fresh and i have no kids ,no wife , and if i wanna blow up a 1000 dollar f-bomb every summer by racing and burning out,il do that. and if i wanted a nice car id save up for a vette. but right now im ok with beating 380+ hp trucks or 160hp hatchbacks in a 24yo 230hp rusty, crusty, ugly 1 headlight up pos firebird. i have allll winter to replace my trans. its not even gone yet. it goes in all 4 gears. just slips occasionally.

IDK man. My brothers single cab 2010 6.0 with the 6 speed automatic pulls pretty good over 3,500 RPM. I can see if doing that.

My god, you remind me of myself haha. I had a 94 6 speed formula that I did the same thing with. That thing would lay rubber everywhere I went, make u turns in single lane roads without backing up and regularly see 6,000 RPM lol. Clutch blew apart dumping it the first pass down the track lmao.

Even my little 5.6 with an intake/exhaust/tuner is in the 13s in a 5,300 lbs truck and ran 14.7 bone stock.

LOL, reminds me of how I treated my Ram. I went through 5 different transmissions in that truck.

I even killed one purposely that was slipping badly in 4th and 5th. Smoked the OD clutches completely doing this.
