0-60 in 3.5 & top speed 275mph

This is not in kilometers per hour. I was talking to a 16 year old who SAID that he had a 96 eclipse with twin turbos a 3 stage nitrous system, full race engine management, and the list went on and on. His car should do 275, but he's only had it 210 or 220. He has a job installing stereos at circuit city, supposedly. He also has an 82 cadillac fleetwood that is getting a 72 stingray motor- he didn't even know what size(did chevy even make a stingray in 72?) and its gonna do over 200 with twin turbos. He claimed his dad owns seveal speed shops and half of napa and his family has several mob connections, so he can't ever get in ticket trouble of any sort. I didn't tell him how stupid he is because i wanna keep milking him if i ever see him again. I am totally serious about this. I couldn't make this up.

I think somebody's full of
If this was true I'm sure most of the people in the area would know who he is, so ask around. He'd probably also be in a grip of Magazines, so ask him what magazines' he's in if you see him again.

OK. I don't want anyone to think that i'm this stupid. I didn't believe a word he said, I just listened and nodded. I had to make sure that some of my friends didn't take him completely serious, while at the same time calling another friend telling him to meet me to hear this kid go on and on.

OH MY FREAKIN G0D. What a complete idiot. I say let this post run a couple of days, print it out and show that fricken moron. Does he even have a clue of what would need to be done to even reach 200mph. And let alone 275, think about the distance required just to reach that.

Or wait, is the guy filthy rich to waste all his money into an eclipse to do 275. I mean I guess it is possible, but the fabrication and mods needed would be phenomenal.

I forgot to add my car has Twin Turbos and a Paxton Supercharger, with a 800 shot of NOS. Now, it's never been started but it should do 280mph.

If i was you i race him for pinkies and tell him your top speed is 150 and you should have no problem. I have supercharged bird itching to taste import blood. I havent ran it at track since adding the supercharger i got for christmas from the miss's(got a Amer. Express and went wild). I would just race him and tell em why not. You obviously have the faster car. Then put a NEON SIGN in the back glass hatch saying CYA!. Call him out. Tell him you got friends in the cartel and they got some beef with his family and you'll see him later when he gets off work. See how fast his Eclipse is then.LOL!

Interesting, there was never a TT Eclipse made, and their top speed is gear limited to about 150. Even the 10 second eclipses with AWD never get over that. "Rich" kids like that hate to be embarassed, you should have him pop his hood and count his turbos for him

ok first off the eclipse with it's stock gearing would not be able to go past about 140 or so I think
second if he could he would have to start to worry about life on the car since at those speeds I am sure the air would get under his car and try to make him go into an airplane
and where would he go at those speeds
road do get bumpy and speed+bumps=dirty undies and a big red mess
those cars are also not the most aerodynamic so he would need lots of power to do it
FWD at those speeds as well? Lol

just wish I could see the mag he made it into or something being that the car is going to prolly going to be known like any other 200mph plus cars

The only thing i questioned him on was top speed. I asked him how he keeps the front end from lifting over 120-130, asking him how he gets the air out from under the hood, he looked puzzled, then what his final drive ratio is, and his redline. He gave me his redline, but i don't remeber what he said- i was trembling inside, but he couldn't answer anything. I wouldn't try to race him quite yet though- my car is slow- 192,000 miles on original everything. I at least need to replace my slipping tranny and get a catback and lose the cat first. I'd be lucky to be under 16.5 wouldn't I?

Not that it really matters but they aren't gear limited to 140mph. At 140mph my 1991 Turbo Talon FWD was spinning only 5950rpms

No, they aren't gear limited, but in OD the computer won't let the engin rev past 5500 rpm (or so my friend tells me). THus the top speed of about 145-150. If his computer is stock, that car is going nowhere fast.

Well, we've pretty much decided a verdict of BS, so why not throw around some approximate numbers. Attached is a picture of what I am told to be a McLaren prototype car apropriately named the "F2" This picture was posted a while ago on here and came with the following tech data: (all from memory)

Wt................1500 lbs
Hp................1500 Hp
Tq.................1500 Ft-Lbs
0-60..............2.1 sec.
1/4................7.9 sec.
Top Speed....275 MPH

Keep in mind that that is a dual supercharged v16 sticking out of the top of the car.

Ok, now look at those figures and the car... just a ball park figure here, but with an eclipse which is not as aerodynamic, nor is it designed for such high speeds.... we're talking 2000 + Hp

'nuf said?

Maybe a little more... a 3.5 0-60 (claimed by eclipse boy) is pretty lame for a 275 MPH car... I would estimate top speed just from that 0-60 to be closer to 180 MPH.

Lets just let that gearing issue slide by and assume the engine can rev to 12k RPM and the limiter is busted.

guys i figured it out. he took a motor out of a 747 and strapped it in, no tranny nothin. i bet it's real loud too huh, just how those damn ricers like them. i think 275 in an eclipse is about the funniest thing i have ever seen/heard. those things are decent cars but i doubt one could go 200 much less close to 300. i figured out where he gets the money too, the mob comes to circuit city to get their systems and when he installs them they tip him 1000's of dollars at a time. this kid is so full of it's not even funny
