SBC block and head casting codes
If any of you are interested I have attached a list of all GM block codes, ci, the year, bolt config and source sorted by casting number.
Included is the a list of all GM head casting codes, the year they were used, block sized used on and valve configuration all sorted by casting number.
RP.

I have a problem with the statement that the casting numbers will also give you valve sizes.
GM/Chevy were infamous for using the same casting on cylinder heads and using 2-3 different sized valves depending on the application.
I.e. a very common mid '70s to early '80s head, # 333882 was used in everything from soup to nuts practically- full-size passenger cars, mid-size cars, trucks, F-Bodies and on both 350 and 400 inch blocks. Known valve sizes included 2.02/1.60, 1.94/1.54 and some people have sworn they've seen them at 1.84/1.50 on some trucks. All the same casting number...
So how does this listing differentiate the heads beyond the basic casting number?
