Cost for exhaust?
Anyone have an idea what it would cost for headers, y-pipe and cat back for an 86 TA? I'm giving serious thought to pitching my true duals in the garbage. They have been an expensive lesson for me, as they are a source of constant problems. I could have my car on the road this weekend (probably could have had it on the road last summer if i took this route) if i decide to do some damage to the ol' visa.

Just checked on Summit and Jegs. I can order Headman headers and y-pipe for $200US and Dynomax cat back for $160 US So $360 US = approx $560 Can. The Dynomax kit is the 2.5" one, which is not the best. I had it on my 85 Z28 and it worked alright. My TA will never be a super quick car anyways, so the 2.5" should be ok.
I'll go over to Brant Performance in the morning to price out what it would cost from them. If i remember correctly, they sell header/cat back kits. But, if i can do a complete exhaust for around $560 i'll probably do it. I should probably order it before my wife gets back from her work retreat. She'll probably kill me! lol

Yes, I have the Headmans. They are actually a pretty decent header. They have a limitied application use however, which would be the biggest draw back to them, IMO. They won't work with A/C cars. I had to remove the A/C system, including the box on the firewall to get the passenger side header to fit. It fits like a glove on the passenger side. Just drop the starter and the header slides right in from the top. Driveside you have to raise the block 3-4" to slide it in from the bottom. Oil filter and valve cover have to come off as well.
I had to dimple the collector on the drivers side so i get enough clearance to clear the bellhousing on the T5 tranny i used to have in there.
Other than that, they are pretty good. I'll thow them in the classifieds if get rid of the duals

I got a set of FlowTech Shorty Headers and y pipe for $180CAN this was new in the box. I bought an American Thunder Flowmaster muffler and hade Speedy make me the piping. The whole exhaust all together cost around 650 to 700 dollars including the work.
Smoken, where the hell do you get your facts.

I think I looked into the Flowtechs based on someone's recommendation but I don't think they fit 350TPI's...or something like that. All I remember is that there was a reason I couldn't buy them.

I know the flowtechs have only 1 1/2" primary pipes, which are pretty small. They would be ok for a 305, but on a 350 they wouldn't perform as well as 1 5/8"
Right now I''ll put anything that will work on. Hopefully I'll have a set soon.

The flowtech's I have are 1 1/2, unfortunately. But they flow a hell of a lot better than manifolds. Only catch, I don't have A.I.R.
I ripped it out. These are just plain shorties that come with a y-pipe and have a location for an o2 sensor. I believe they were $180 from Total Race Supply in the Cornwall area.
I beleive they might have a website. www.totalracesupply.com
The owner saved me a lot of cash this winter during the buildup.
His forte is circle track though.
