Check this out about the TB bypass

Hey these aren't my words I just cut and pasted them off another site. It has me thinking maybe I better hook up my TB coolant again ?

*******

"... THROTTLE BODY BYPASS .....

What this mod does is prevents the coolant from running through the throttle body like the very intelligent and highly paid GM design team intended it too. have you ever heated up a flat, thin piece of metal with a torch and then ran water over it?? what does it do?? it warps... just like the plates inside your throttle body will do over time with this "mod". the coolant is designed to keep the throttle body and the plates at the same temperature. but you will see a 6hp gain for a few months, then expect a 20 hp decrease. "

*******

Well, what do you ? I don't think the TPI was designed by GM -- probably outsourced if you ask me but whatever... pretty much an engineering issue ?

Comments anyone ???

thx,
RP.

I don't think it really matters anyways. the throttle body is directly attatched to the plenum and is gonna heat up just as much as the plenum. So, I wouldn't worry about the throttle body warping. You'd have to really heat that thing up with a torch and then throw a bucket of ice water on it to traumatize the metal that much. I think people do the TB bypass more of a cosmetic thing to get rid of all of those hoses.

It also makes it easier to change injectors -- pulling the plenum and the TB as one piece that is... (ha,ha).

I dont see how using the coolant to heat it up would keep it from warping? Sounds like someone that thinks they are more inteligent than they are just started thinking out loud. And Im pretty sure Ive seen in documented in GM service stuff that the TB coolant was a means of keeping the blades from Icing shut in the winter, not that it was intended to prevent warping. May we inquire who wrote that? is it someone that is fairly crediable?

Where did you find that? I think I know where As someone who deals with "hot metal" every day, I can say that that little "thought" is assinine. Exactly which part would warp? The blades? No. The shaft? No. The TB casting itself? No.

I don't see how it will warp... everything is hot in that engine bay anyway. This guy had a brain fart, and just started typing. There is no way it will warp anything. Ever put your hand on the TB when the engine has run for a half an hour at least? It's still hot!!! LOL Here's what I say

Ok I went to that ebay thing, and I agree with the guy on one thing, it is very rediculus how many mods are posted on ebay and how dumb it would be to pay for them. However I think he is just as bad as the people posting them for putting his stupid rant up for an auction. Espesialy when his facts are incorect. I think everyone should post a bad coment on his ebay acount, lol jk Im not that mean. Anyways I say if some stupid sucker is willing to pay for any of those mods on ebay they deserve to get burned. Anyone that is half way intelegent would research it more than just something on ebay before they went and hacked there car.

Hey guys

In the third gen tech articles, where they tell how to by-pass the tb, he also says about what he did with his.
About running hoses and air cooling. I did this with mine a couple months and it really seems to work.
You can put your hand on the tb at anytime and it's not very hot.
Check the article. I think it's worth doing.
