Of Course I Have To Get A Problem Too...

Well, fired up the car this morning, all went as usual..went into town, and such....got back into my car fom the post office, started fine, and drove a few minutes, then the car started to bog right down....it would barely accelerate regardless of the gas I gave it, and should it have a sound, I would describe it as "chug-a-chug-a-chug". Anyways, I managed to get it home and check things out...all my fluid levels were normal, no lights or codes thrown...all the wires seem fine, as well. What I'm thinking (hoping) for is that I recently put on a Formula hood (with the single bulge), with the power bulge area open at the windsheild side (some came open, wheras later years it was blocked off, correct?). Last night, my car had to sit in that ****ty rainstorm, and I think it's quite possible that enough water may have gotten into the bay to soggy up some of my components...but then I doubt my car would have ran fine when I started it the first time earlier. I took it for a quick spin just now, and it seems to have returned to normal, but this is NOT something I want to have surprise me halfway to work. So, any suggestions...? Maybe the cap/rotor got a bit wet...? Maybe it was a freakish occurance...? Maybe my car is trying to tell me that I shouldn't add 5.0 bodyparts to my poor 2.8 until AFTER the swap...? lol.....hit me with some ideas, all.

I'm starting to doubt the idea of it being water - otherwise it wouldn't have ran well off the start. I'm hoping for a plug wire or something, but now I'm leaning towards EGR / vaccum leak / or something of equal stupidity. Going to change the fuel filter (needs to be done anyways) and check out the plugs, though it's starting to thunder here (again). As for easySPEEDcamaro, I'd try and salvage any friends you might have on here, because it sounds like you're going to be needing a LOT of help in the future.

Sorry for my ignorance but is this turning into what's known as a flame war? I'm new to e-mail chatting.

Azure, Maybe water is the problem. My car has stalled after starting up fine after an engine cleaning. I fired water at the wires. I know, I know. What was I thinking. It could be that the hole in the scope is allowing too much water to enter. Could be why they closed it up after. Then again I'm not sure they came open from factory. Previous owner could have cut it open. Anyways, just my two cents to try and help you out.

Good Luck:rockon:

As for you easySPEEDcamaro........I, along with the rest of the boys on this board will be driving our thirdgen's out to St.Thomas for drag day and Kitchener for dyno day. Will you be there or do you need a tow????

Don't take my comments too hard but don't go jumping on other peoples case just because they got a problem too just to make yourself feel better. If I'm not mistaken everyone here has done nothing but, including myself, to try and help you out in everyway we can. From suggesttions to coming by to see the car. Like Azure said, salvage any friends you can because as I have learned since I joined this board this year, as you too are new to the group, that this group is a tight bunch. A big family. We all help each other out in every crisis however possible. Sure we fight, bitch and even snap. But we never take shots when one of us is in a jam with our cars.

Now put in your two cents or go worry about your own car. I've left you a reply to your post. Remember, no hard feelings, just be careful in the future that's all. As you may have already seen what can happen if your not carefull with the comments from Acceld Z and Cruz' N and Bruz' R.

Jer. my car did the same thing, on and off for about a month. like I said it didn't throw any codes until it totally quit, and it was my Mass Air Flow sensor. The only way to check is to find one that is good and put it on, or do what I did, if it starts acting up, take it out and pound the hell out of it. I did that till the car eventually quit for good, and then a code registered about my MAF.

I retract any ignorant or obnoxious comments I may have made about his finely crafted piece of north american engineering.

Hahahah, finely crafted indeed. you have to take Gm cars like a piece of clay and mold it into something worthwhile or it just falls all apart on the pottery wheel.(analogy)

Guys I'm not flaming at anybody so don't get all defensive, infact I truly greatly appreciate all the help you guys have provided me, and maybe you are interpreting what I'm saying the wrong way.

I was just making a statement that "Everybody seems to be having problems with their Camaros nowadays, and water is a big problem!". I am not trying to badmouth or make fun of anybody.

The real thing I was laughing at was this. My dad bought this "Lemon-Aid" Canadian guide to buying cars before I bought my car. The book said 82-92 camaros "STAY AWAY FROM, UNRELIABLE". I told my dad he didn't know what he was talking about, bought the car, and the car is mint inside and out believe me. But I just laugh because he's kinda right, these cars are problem prone!

BTW: I fixed my problem. Wasn't the fuel pump, it was the fuel pump relay and it only cost me $60 plus the $80 for the tow!

When someone buys a thirdgen, they should get a CAA membership for free. Seriously, it should be a law

Well.. my car is still running great... just leaking some antifreeze

As for Azure's problem... if it feel gutless, it could be the catalytic convertor.. had that problem with the Grand AM, almost felt like someone was plugging up the intake.

A monkey could have swapped that relay out and i'm not talking about one of those astronaut monkeys. I'm talking about the regular old jungle monkeys. I'm glad it's fixed and it didn't cost you much. How far did it have to be towed?

cost of tow for 10kms = $80

cost of tow from Kennedy & Hwy 7(Markham) to Victoria Park and Eglinton (Scarborough) = free

How???

CAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get it. It's cheap. If I'm not mistaken CAA Plus is something like $120 for a year.

At your rate you've already bought two years worth with all the tows you've had.

As for this Saturday.....I'll be there provided I don't decide to work on my car at the shop installing a whole bunch of sh*t.
