3rd gen Targa?? Anyone done this??

Guys,

Has anyone done a targa top on a 3rd gen?? I am thinking this is something I would like to have done to my car if it is somehting which is possible, which I am sure it is. Anyone have any experience with this, and other than the obvious cutting out for the targa what additional re-inforcement was required (I am assuming sub frame connectors etc). I guess this is probably something I should have looked into before having it painted this past winter, but oh well what can you do!

Thanks,

I remember this topic before, but I do not remember in which forum I believe if you search "targa" you should find it.

I do remember something about getting the same reinforcements as a convertible would have.

A targa would look pretty good. Reminds me of the Simon & Simon car. An 82-83 red Z-28 with the targa top.

i think if you made up for the structural support lost by taking out the t bar, supported the windshield pillars somehow, and figured out how to make a top that wouldn't leak, it would be generally ewasy. the t-bar looks like it would come right out if you ddrilled out a few spot welds, it is a totally separate piece from the body
