My plan in 3 years!

I know I have a beautiful car, but I have my mind set on something.

Every time I see Gone in 60 Seconds I fall more and more in love with the Shelby Mustang GT500 from the movie.

But since I will never afford one, instead I'm going to turn my camaro into the same look. My plan 3 years from now is to paint is silver/gray with black racing stripes, and put side pipes coming out of the ground effects, hood pins, etc. etc. etc. I think it would look awesome on a 92 camaro, how about you?

Most of us have beautiful cars EasySpeed. But I doubt many of us want to turn them into Fords ?!?!?!

I'm sure the Shelby GT cars are fine specimens of Detroit muscle but not a reasonable cause to destroy a perfectly good 3rd gen Z28. Why don't you buy a beater and mess with the paint and finish on it instead ? I can guarantee you this -- if you mess with your Z28 like you say you want to -- you will lose your shirt on the car. No kidding I have seen this before you will eventually sell it at a dreadful loss.

About Gone in 60 Seconds -- has your car ever been stolen on you ? If it ever does (and hopefully it never does) I would like to talk to you after the fact to explore your new found feelings on movies like "Gone in 60 Seconds". The sh*it head producers of movies like that glorify the scumbag thieves who creap around in the dead of night to rob us of our property that we work and save very hard for.

Lets see how many times I've been burned by car thieves.

- one '69 Mach 1 Mustang stolen and destroyed.
- one '73 Pontiac Grand Prix (455 no less) stolen.
- one '85 IROC stolen and destroyed.
- too many sets of tires and rims to remember.
- too many stereo systems to remember.
- too many casual B&Es on my car to remember.

I don't think I can print what I think of sh*thead scumbag *sshole Hollywood producers who put out garbage trash movies like Gone in 60 Seconds that glorify puke lowlife bottom feeding thieves who get their jollies out of stealing and destroying other people's valuable assets.

Well that is my rant for the week. Whats yours ?

Best wishes with your paint and pipes and decals EasySpeed.

adious,
RP.

The worst threat to my father's f-body cars believe it or not was not himself, but low level car thieves. (although I'd remind him he was the one all the time)

Things that went gone or missing during the 80's.... center caps, rims, b & e stereos, emblems... luckilly none of them were stolen.. but insurance of these cars was not high due to speed alone, but the amount of claims for theft and b & e damage racked in a lot of negative feedback for these cars.

These days, the acuras, and hondas are current victims of the trade and there are many parts of north america I would not trust to park a car of that type, and even more still where you have to worry about silly things like emblems...

You make a diamond in the rough, you're bound to get noticed... just depends on who's doing the noticing...

I have my quams with every car movie out there, Fast & Furious glorified street racing... Gone in 60 Seconds glorified car thieves...

I like the cars, I just don't like the messages of these movies.

As for your plan to your car, I wouldn't do it. It's a beauty in it's own right. Just get a beater Z-28 and build it to your heart's content yourself. It's far more rewarding in my opinion and won't mess what I and many others would consider a great potential showcar.

IMHO pretty hard to seperate the message from the movie.

I guess if you'd had your pride 'n joy stolen and destroyed not once but three times you might see my point of view.

Yes, I have a hardline attitude against sh*thead movies like Gone in 60 Seconds (a reluctant car thief -- gimme a break what a hussle) because it glorifies the very type of people who stole and destroyed my Mustang, my Grand Prix and my IROC.

Oh yeah you don't find out how little your insurance actually covers until you make an auto theft claim -- ever done that before ? After you wait the requisite 3 weeks for the vehicle to be recovered you find out the rental car costs more than your daily coverage -- assuming you have loss of use riders on your policy. Then when you do settle you are lucky to see 50% of the value of your car -- oh you don't believe me ? Call your insurance broker and ask what the rate is for a '92 Z28 with 75k on it ? You are gonna be shocked buddy.

Well no sense in carrying on about this. If EasySpeed wants to make his Z28 a Ford thats fine by me, pipes, decals and all.

Wow palric I never really thought about it that way! All that is so true... And your stolen 69 mach 1 made me cry man! That was my dream car when I was looking! I looked so hard for a 69 mach 1 for about a year and a half and gave up... I loved everything about them, still do...

They really do try and justify car theft though... its like, aww the poor guys druggie car thief bro is gonna die. But now that I think about, I dont think society wouldve missed the punk.

And easyspeed, I agree with the other people about getting another z28. I mean Im not trying to tell you what you should do with your car obviously, but if it was me. You got a pretty mint paintjob on your car and so what if it has nicks... A nice decent paintjob on your car, assuming you didnt do any of it yourself, to change the color and all would be atleast 5 grand, half of what you paid. You would get a muuuuuuch better feeling if you rescued a z28 with bad paint and maybe a few bad spots here and there. That way you wouldnt have to poun the miles on your car either... About the hood latches, I love em too and i might get a pair someday. They are fairly cheap, not to hard to put on and are available everywhere cause for some reason ricers think they the need them to keep a hood down on a 1.6L monster engine...
I love that shelby too, but you ever see the shelby cobras? Now theres a car you can set you clock too...

I love Gone in 60 Seconds, the best movie of all time, hands down, don't care what anybody says or what message it sends.

As for my car. Well right now I'm just a poor ole young guy. But I'm just saying, I love the way the Mustang looks from the movie. And I always wanted to turn a camaro into a similar looking car!

I was just fooling around with photoshop yesterday and this is what I came up with sofar.

you guys take what i say too seriously. i wouldn't go and **** up my car, i just said maybe in a few years from now i'll turn it into something like that! right now i don't have any cash!

I'm thinking more when It comes time that I actually need a paintjob, if that day ever comes... And I would seriously have no problem shelling out $6000 for a pretty paint job, cuz then I'd have a real showcar

Why would you want to make a camaro look like your favorite mustang???? If you want to do that with a car but can't afford an original why not get an 80's GT and do something similar?

Somethings are just plain Sacreligous. If you want Eleanor, sell the '92 and go buy one, or atleast an old Fastback. Face it, a leopard can't change it's spots, and a Camaro can NEVER be like a Rustang...
I am not quite sure why you would post something like this on this board, surely you must realize that you open yourself to some obvious abuse. This is an f-body site were most of us cherish our cars and want to make them the best they can be. Turning one into a classic Mustang just sounds wrong....

Of course we try to take you seriously and you already have a great show car what more are you looking for ?

Just my .02cents worth EasySpeed -- why don't you take that $6k and invest in yourself instead of the car ? The car is great but you still need work -- get an education, etc. Who knows maybe one day you can buy a real Shelby GT500 ???
