I bought it today because I heard some guys talking about the firebird in there running 14.6 with 198 RWHP... ok so tell me guys why em I not at that mark... I am beating this guy by 23 RWHP but he is faster... I think it is my 2.4 60 foot times that are killing me.... what do you guys think? and what would happen if I got some slicks?

Yep those 60 ft times hurt.. if you want advice on slicks.. look at JohnnyIroc's improvement... and he still has an open diff...

It was kind of answered in the other post but to sum it up:
-track conditions
-slicks or good streets
-that liquid traction stuff
-many runs
-pro driver
-good altitude and humidity conditions
-race fuel
-iced intake
and in my opinion, with all that traction he probly did a pretty high clutch dump

You could probably do most of those things for pretty cheap and get mid 14s. Alot too if your 2.4 60 foot is suffering due to traction.

for every 10th in the 60' it doubles in the 1/4 mile..If you can shave of 4 tenths of your 60' youll shave off 8 tenths in the 1/4

yah right
You know what Gerrit I am highly suspicious of that 14.67 time. I suppose a pro with the right hook up goodies could pull it off but they said no slicks they had streets and iced down the TPI. We are both making more HP and torque than that unit.

I did note a B&M ripper was installed -- what effect does a B&M ripper have on our T-5s ?

If you read the article they show the times for 3 back to back (hot laps) and it goes from 14.67 to 14.99 to 15.11... that is one heck of a spread eh ?

Hey it sounds like someone I know (me 15.11@93.5). I did not read anywhere that their times were corrected.

RP.

the ripper shifter is a short throw shifter..ie it makes the act of shifting quicker cause the shift doenst travel as far. i suck at explaining things...anyway...a short throw shifter is good.

Are you serious? Does it really make that much of a difference?

I should compare my times... my 60 ft's had a dramatic shift by day's end from 2.6 to 2.2... that would be worth 8 tenths...

whoa acceld so by that theory if you got 2 sec 60 foots which is quite posible you would be in mid 12s... Not to far from your goal of 11s.

I could see a B&M ripper definately taking off a few tenths in the right hands which I am sure it was in.

I could easily see them doing a 14.6 if they used traction aid on a nice track (which it probly was) and dumped the clutch high enough. Did they say what kind of street tires? Cause they do make street legal slicks with just a few slivers down the tread...
