Don't know if you guys saw this. It was over on the Appearance/Detailing board. Somebody drew this.
I think I am in love. I'm going to find out how much it'll cost to build something like this. I love it

Dear G0d.....
Alex, no offence, but, please buy another Camaro to do that to. Your car is nice enough as it is. Pick up a car that needs some body work done to it, and keep your car in its mint condition.
PS - I have seen a couple of orange IROC's in the past. I think the color looks great on them.

Selll me your car, and get a different one if you are going to do that...

I was actually going to sell my car yesterday.
This contracter who is working on the house next to mine saw my car the other day and started talking to me. He offered me $15,000 cash for my car the first time. I was thinking about it but said no, because I have put in about $13,000 into my car already, and I didn't really wanna sell it.
Then I started talking to him and told him how much I paid etc... Then I thought it over and called him and said "For $15,000 I'll sell the car on second thought" but by that time he already knew what I paid for the car and said "$10,000 and I'll buy it". He's suppose to call me back and offer me a better deal. If he gives me $13,500 I'm selling it.

Sorry I don't agree with you whatsoever.
That is not rice, that is creativity.
I would do that to my car anyday. It is tasteful.

Good lord, that couldn't be any more rice. Why in the hell someone would consider bastardizing a nice car like that is beyond comprehension.
We all laugh at those silly looking hondas. Do you REALLY want people laughing at thirdgens too?

whoa you guys... that's not rice at all!!!! I happen to like that kit on there, wraps around the tail pipes nice, notchback lid, heritage style skirts... only thing I would change is the hood.... I actually agree with easyspeed on this one...
as for selling your car, that is very upsetting... hate to see someone sooo gung ho about getting a car, then 5 months later, wants to sell it. You remind me of my friend Denis.

To each his/her own.
That body kit is not overdone like rice kits are... at least the bumpers still fit the bodylines, unlike some rice bumpers.
I guarantee if SLP or GM came out with a prototype similar to this, your attitudes would be different.

Thats nice I like it. Except for the hood, and they way the bumper comes down over the lights a bit too much. however, unless you get into fibreglass man seriously dont even think of doing it because to get someone to do that would be ridiculous. Its not a few hour job to make or modify your bumpers/panels and still have them look symetrical and smooth. I would say for the bumper and fenders done by a pro alone you would be lookin at 30 hours minimum. Now say you get lucky and find someone to do it for you @ 40 bucks an hour, $1200 then factor in materials and paint and painting labour your looking at around 2000 IMO. And if you take it to someone crooked, they will give you a decent estimate then double it in the end and you couldnt do a thing. And with your luck with mechanics...
But seriously easy, first it was make my car like elanor, now its make my car like this... You definately rile people up to much

Oh my...I agree with Easy on this one. This car has it, even if it does resemble a BIT of rice, I'd take it no question. Maybe the hood could be a bit smaller (width) but besides that, for sure mate! Maybe in some other color though...with the orange it may seem to be "rice" if anything. With any car on the road, Black makes them all look good so I'd take that car in black. Maybe with a Midnight black twist. (Purple/black during the day, Black at night)
I'm with easyspeed on this one, its not rice...
GM did have a prototype camaro with a full bodykit with designs not like the one posted here. It was a red one as I recall, had elements from the ws6 and one distinction I noted was the bumper molded around the tailpipes...
Either way, don't be too quick to harp on it.. this maybe what the 5th gen may look like if it came out...

GM did about a thousand Camaro "engineering excercises". One of them looked virtually identical to this one. It's a nice design but it's to busy for my tastes.
I think it would look alot better in real life. But that hood would seriously have to go. For the effort it would take to build that hood you could have one about 5 times nicer. There sure is crap for aftermarket hood options for 3rd gens though...

Oh please... The hood, the front skirt, the mirrors, they're all rice. Granted the rear skirt isn't bad and I love factory-looking notches, but that colour totally ruins even the good aspects. If I saw that car on the street I'd laugh (fast or not), and I wouldn't be the only one.

I'd venture a Viper is more or less similarily curvey...fender flares, whatever....I guess it's not 'rice' because...I guess because it came from the factory that way...?
My personal tastes... I'd change the color to something less neon looking... then the rear bumper has to change.. not a fan of it...
and curves are nice, but I'd like to see a bit of straight edges to accent the design a bit... go a bit easier on the curves else its looking like the import people got their hands on it rather than be an original design...

The whole 'rice' arguement is probably the most basic and rediculous thing that exists....I mean, have you ever seen such a thing where grown men (mostly, or at least, legally), get so wound up and battle back and forth over an unprovable point.....? TASTE.....?! There is no straight and narrow, no fact over folley when it comes to appearance...whatever someone does to a vehicle, some will like it, and some will hate it. If some moron comes on and says to iroc2nv "man, that spoiler is GAY." Will he all of the sudden think, "wow, maybe I no longer like it?" Of course not - it's on there because of HIS tastes, and someone else proclaiming they hate it won't mean ****. The whole thing is primitive.....damn, I need sleep.

most of the car are stock looking pieces that have been modified.
The mirrors are from the newer TA's, the wing is stock with the middle mounts cut off, notch back is a factory option, the fenders with the vents are aftermarket fiber glass, and the factory ground f/x and rear bumper cover could be modified to look like that. By the way those are stock GM vett rims.
also it doesnt have fender flares, it is the roll of the panel on our cars. Remember it is a drawing.
Its not that bad, just a little different. I would go with maybe a big block or cowl hood though.
You guys that are calling "rice" are calling it on many GM parts. I just wanted to point that out.

I think by flares he is talking about the vents in the fenders. The gfx anniversary maro ones BTW. I the drawer just exagerated their styles for the sake of the drawing. honestly I think the reason alot of people are calling it rice is because of the hood. Its too damn busy.
greg
And daz thats pretty much the main reason I dont like the term rice... Its just used sooo much. People need to start being original again and making up new names for appearance mods they dont like...

GM parts or not, it looks silly. Gawdy colour, useless vents all over the place... I can only imagine how much crap would be hanging from the mirror if that were a real car. Sure rice/poser is a judgement call but sometimes thigns are just so obvious... Third gens have sharp, sleek lines. That abomination has neither. Perhaps GM made the right move in discontinuing the line before the proud Camaro name got disgraced like this.
But of course, that's just my opinion, and I'm entitled to it.
