Ever notice how white guys can't call a black guy N*****, but a black guy can and it's ok.
It's all good Mark, just 4 am here, and I'm shootin' my mouth off.... I would have to disagree with most people here... Americans arent necasarily out to be rude to everyone they see but the big differences from Canadians I found was the little subtle things like holding doors open for people behind you or thank you and please and your welcome etc. Why? I dunno, lack of trusting each other maybe? Other than that alot of them are still friendly but I would definately miss the Canadian way if I ever moved.

Well the bad thing for all of us is... Jerks are everywhere. Doesn't mean you are American or Canadian or Russian even. The problem is...the more people in a certain area...the bigger amount of Jerks. I don't know why people have to be that way? It must make them feel good about themselves or something. I think it makes them look like a big Arshole but... All I usually do is ignore them so that I don't feed the fire. Walk away leaving them bitching to themselves. Then they look really stupid.
To all the Jerkoffs out there...F@#* Off and grow up!!!!!!

I'd like to say I always hold doors open for people, specially women, but even guys too. I was just brought up to be courteous, and it's the right thing to do.

Just in case anybody really cares, there is one thing that really bothers me. When you wave someone out ahead of you, like they're pulling out from somewhere or turning at an intersection. IF THEY DON'T FREAKING WAVE BACK SAYING 'THANK YOU' I JUST WANT TO RUN THEM DOWN AND BEAT THEM WITH A BAT!!!

USA! USA! USA!
I deal with Americans all the time at work, (suppliers, telephone etc..) and actually find them very personable, especially the southerners - always perfect gentlemen. We actually have a lot of fun with the stereotypes, a lot of them think I talk like a Hockey player?!? (LOL
) Its amazing how many different ways of talking there are down there (for lack of a better expression, you know what I mean, NJ vs TX, etc..) I talked to one guy in Nebraska that just LOVED Canada, where I feel a lot of times that I should just pack up and move to the US.
*******s know no borders, they are everywhere, maybe sometimes a little light hearted neighborly ribbing gets misunderstood from time to time? IMHO, neither the USA or Canada could ask for better neighbors...

dont even get me started on the "not giving a signal when changing lane" thing. Damn, I hate that. People cuting across 4 lane of traffic and not even give a signal. And also when you leave a little space between you and another car or 18 wheeler and someone moves into that space. and ususally dose not give a signal either.

i know in gatlinburg tn and big vacation spot in east tn, people break their necks to be nice, and even in knoxville too.........
i love it...... i guess it's the places ya go and how life goes there.... if you go to a rich neighborhood, ganerally people will be snobby, get the idea??
ahh lord, maybe one day people will figure out that no ones better than anyone else and everyone will start being nicer to each other everywhere....
a?
and as for the above certain race thing, on our page we have rebel flags everywhere, so it's goona have a few people hate us for it even though we have a disclaimer on the front page.... we mean no harm but people really take offence to certain words or names.... like "whitey" or "g dogg"..... it's just natural for them i guess, even though that stuff happend hundreds of years ago, they just refuse to let it go.......

Just my $0.02...
I lived in RI for a couple years, and I found the people there to be extremely friendly, in person, on the road (even if they weren't the most competent drivers), and in public places.
Aside from a really dim view of Canada (I once got complemented on how good my english was, I responded that I should hope my english was good, it's the only language I speak...), they were pretty open.
As far as Mark A. Shields' problem, I think the confusion stems from the fact that none of us have any idea what incident you're complaining about! There's nothing in your sig about an american getting pi$$y, and I'm not too sure what the problem is. If you have a spare moment during your rigorous "20 posts a day" routine, shed a little light on the conflict.
On an aside, I've seen more blindly-patriotic, bozo-ness from Canadians, than I have Americans. Some people take being a Canadian a little too seriously. The sheer amount of maple leaves I see in a single day is staggering. Whatever happened to quiet confidence?

My 2 cents.
It's obvious everyone everywhere has their own stories and in general, people for the most part are pretty good.
As far as being patriotic, I would give Americans the thumbs up, cause they are far more then Canadians will ever be. However, as far as priorities, it would be Canadians, hands down.
Crime rate, prejudice, homelessness, education, health care, etc., We don't know how lucky we are.
It's just my opinion, but if there was more done in these areas in the US instead of worrying about everyone else's business, they would be far better off ( I'm talking government, not people in general ) I have no ill feelings toward Americans, like I said, just an opinion.

OOOO Canada! We stand on guard for thee, or in this case for Mark. No thanks needed,but... Your welcome.
As for NTchr*st comment...I am proud to be Canadian, always will be, and I will show it with pride!!! Quiet confidence???? You must not be Canadian yourself. Quote the word from Molson "I AM!!!" Our Maple leafs stand for our freedom, and our rights as individuals, that is why it is a single leaf. I hate polititians but I love a loyal Canadian. Canada you ROCK!!!!!
As for Mark...maybe you should come live here. We'll let ya. J/K
Seriously though, have you ever been here for a long period of time? You'll Love it!

Nope, never been to Canada, but with how I love to buy performance parts, no way I could live in Canada. I would have like $30k into my car by now up there.

Yeah I here ya! I've got over $10k in my Monte now, not including my labour, and I am no wheres near finished. Still have the body and paint work, roll cage, the mini tub and rear end. Way to much still left to do. $30,000???? Yeah I may get close to that yeap!
Wow I am going to be broke! But don't forget, our money is so different. A job here that pays say $15/hr, would only get you $10 for the same job down in the US. SO it all evens out somewhat..Iguess?????

hey NTChrist, I'm from St.Catharines too. Where abouts are ya?
As for the Can. vs U.S. thing, I just recently went to North Carolina for a NASCAR race, and I think we were the only Canadians in the whole campground. Everyone there was really nice. People are people, doesn't matter where you are.
Gotta love the stereotypes though, they were setting off their fireworks the whole time, following each *BANG* would be a loud and proud rebel yell, lol.
