Check this car out. It is located in Waterloo, just not sure of the dealership.

Wow...sweet looking.
Eby-Towne(for those not familiar with K/W area) is a primarily high-end car/sportscar dealership. They have Vipers, Vettes, BMW's etc... all the time on their lot.
Unfortunately they're known for something else... muchos-denaros!
I wonder what the reserve is? The thing is mint.

Yeah, I didn't see the plate until after I posted. That is a nice looking GTA, but as KWF said, they are very pricey. I think I will go take a look anyhow.Gee, if I was to get it, I wouldn't have to change my user name...

i agree...making an appointment is gay. as customers, we are the ones in control, not the dealer. if they wanted my money they would let me see the car when it is convient for me (within reason of course). anyway it sure does look like a nice car...
O.k. I took a look at it today. It is a nice machine. It is totally stock and was purchased new from Forbes Motors in Waterloo. The car however is an American car. So the odometer is in miles. The nose was repainted due to stone chips, other than that, it is original paint.Even the spoiler is mint. The underside is clean, and it looks to be a 2.5 or 3" exhaust. Overall it is a beautiful car, just don't know about the price $12,995. Can.

wow 13 grand seems real steep. sure its low miles, but man thats alot of coin....
If you have ever been in Eby-Towne Motors, it would be one of their less expensive models. There is some high end cars there.

just say "i'll by the car if you let me borrow a viper for a few weeks"

kevin, do they deal strcitly in "high-end" sports cars or do they sell regular cars as well? i noticed a crappy looking r-iced out import in the background of one of the photos on ebay.

That sounds pretty normal for them... it's too bad it's not a private sale... probably 8000$ish..

how could it be an amarican car and sold here in town?
i have seen it before.
looks good. they dont sell crap. but you will pay for it.
i think that its been there from June (or so)
Don't ask me how, Scott, I don't know. I do know that the car is in MPH and that it was purchased at Forbes in June 1987 by a guy that worked at J.M Schneider. It was picked up by Eby-Towne and was for sale for awhile until last year. It was then sold to a lady that ended up getting a divorce, so she came back with the car to trade it in on a 4 door car for her and her kids. The car is owned by Eby-Towne and has been put up for bidding on Ebay. So there you have it, a little history to go with the car. The sad thing is that the guy thinks that it will sell for the asking price, which I think is still too steep. It doesn't have leather seats and it's still a 1987. I think that realistically, the car is worth about $7,500-8,500, maybe even as high as $9,000 to some fool.

What picks my @ss is companies that try to sell vehicles for twice the amount of what they are worth... I am sure its a nice car but 13,000G is alot of money!! I paid 12,900 for my car back in 95 and it was only 3 years old then... I think alot of guys from the board should go in and start telling them that it is too much money... after about 10 of us maybe they'll drop the price...Originally posted by NTChrist

My 2 cents. I hope they get 12g's for the car and everyone selling a thirdgen bumps they're prices up. This way, I may get a small portion of my money back someday...haha.
We are the only ones keeping the prices down on our cars, which I personally don't understand. They are nice cars and in high demand, so why give them away? A real nice one ten years from now, is going to cost even more.
I've done some research on the 87's and in my opinion, that 87' GTA is worth the money, for a number of reasons.
Well maintained and looked after, it will be a true collector car someday.
Here are some reasons. #1... 1st year of the GTA. #2... 5.7 with t-tops was not an option in 87' (limited number built and even fewer left) #3... the only year a person needed to order the Trans-Am option to get the GTA option. #4... only year the overhead console was standard equipment...etc.
The 87' is definitly not the best GTA built, but each car needs to be valued on it's own merit. I only wish mine was 1/2 as nice as that one.
Not looking to get flamed, but think about what a real nice $2500 car from the late 60's, early 70's is selling for today.

There is a 1991 Z28 Convertible for sale at California Classic auto sales in Toronto for a measley $14 777.00 with only 179 000 kms on it. What a steal! These guys must be sniffing glue. 13 grand for the GTA is high, doesn't even have leather. Now there is a 1998 Z28 with 116 000kms on it for $15 400. Now I think this is a pretty good deal for an LS1. Its at Carimex at 360 Victoria st in Kitchener. Anyone in that area care to swing by and tell me what they think of it?Maybe take it for a test drive

seen it. drove it
good price but i did not like itit drove good but did not show well in the lot.
the car is a 98 with 117k its been winter driven and oiled so the engine bay is very dirty. the inside was also very dirty.
the paint was ok but should it miles (lots of chips)
and last of all it was a auto

As far as I'm concerned, the year of a car isn't as important as the rarity, condition and usage. The 98' has more miles and sounds like in worse shape then the GTA.
I realize society says, newer is better and more valuable, but why is the 89' turbo Firebird selling for so much?

Well, this seems to have fetched a pretty dollar. I was watching this, so i figured id check out some other cars they have. I came across this "65 Malibu vert"
Read the ad, an look at the pics (454- 396 decals) So i emailed them. Not very nice i must say,
The reason i even questioned it is becuz if anyone remembers, when i bought my IROC, this is where it came from, and they tried to pass off the 305 as a 350. Anyway, if anyone is thinkin about dealing with these guys in the future, you might wanna investigate what your buying very close.
I honestly didnt think they were like that, but who knows.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1873610900

still says its a 454 go bother someone else. get a life
This is right from a salesman. For a car that had no expense spared for a resto, wouldnt you spend the extra money and get a decal that matched the engine in the car??still says its a 454 go bother someone else. get a life

wow...thats ridiculous. no one, let alone a classic/restored car saleman, in the business of selling things or customer service should speak to a customer that way. thats terrible. and seeing the experience you had with you iroc, you 396 or 454 question is definetly a valid one.

I definitly agree with darbleinad. That salesman is a real A$$hole. But fortunatly, it's dealerships like that, that make consumers more aware, when the word gets out.
Obviously the Malibu is not original, they never came with a 454 in 65' and the GTA could be a 305 as well, but like they say, there's a buyer out there for everything. I guess they just wait for that person. It's to bad they're not more honest about things, cause in the long run they only hurt themselves.

That guy sounds like a dick. I'd call the sales manager. I hate walking into a car dealership for exactly that reason - stupid salesguys who lie, cheat and steal to sell you a car. I wonder what else this moron has said..
