1992 Rs
Hi, I just bought a 1992 RS yesterday. It's my 2nd Camaro. I have an 85 Z28, but I'll be selling it now. My 1992 has the stock 305 TBI (L03) engine and all the other stock accessories. I'm not sure what I want to do to it yet. I also have a 68 327 that I just had rebuilt, cost me $5000 CDN. It has no top end yet, I'm interested in trying to see if I can TBI this engine, just to be different. I live just outside Winnipeg, Manitoba. As I'm new to fuel injection and computer controlled cars any input would be helpful.
Thanks
Thanks
Congrats, keep em both, you might miss her,if i needs to much repair it's a good donor car
You got stick or auto?Keep the carbed setup if you can on the 327 IMO.Ya emmisions may play a big part also.

Hello and welcome to the board.
If you search the engine tech and swap boards you will find the 327 swap has been done many times before. I'm certain you can hook up with some who have been there and done that. The 327 sounds pretty cool.
Be prepared to throw some coin at the FI system and exhaust as these will not be ready for a hi-po 327. No big deal, I built a hi-po 305 TBI some years back and had alot of success with it. It was an extremely reliable setup.
adious,
RP.

My 92
Hi guys, thanks for the input. I really don't know what the emissions standards for Manitoba are, where could I find that out. I do know that my 85 has no cat on it and it passed the saftey, that was two years ago. Both my cars are automatics. I would like to keep the 85, but I need to sell it, to put money towards the 92 ( the bank says so). My 85 needs some body work and it has no engine as I pulled it to put the 327 in, but now I want to put it my 92.Yeah I"ve reading what the TBI guys said. It has me interested.

man, if you want to make any serious power, carb that 327. sticking a TBI on there will choke the hell out of it. 327s are a nice little engine and make nice power, but to do that they need an induction system to feed them; tbi is not this induction system. going carb will be simpler and it will be much easier to get good results out of it.

The factory TBI (525cfm) can be made to perform but thats not where to throw the money at -- try a Holley OEM unit instead you have two choices 670cfm and 900cfm. The 670cfm unit comes with two 80lb'ers (well mine did) and the 900cfm is a quad pod you pick the injectors (4 of them). Best part is they plug right in...
Put a decent manifold under the Holley unit and it only gets better. I tried a dual plane and eventually settled on a single plane manifold. It worked great and like I said was extremely reliable.
my .02 cents worth,

aftermarket efi is expenisve. you could faster with a good carb and intake for less. when i was reffering to choking the the car with the TBI, i meant with the factory unit. those things cant support much power.
anyway, welcome to the board, rattlesnake_dm and
good luck with the new car
