I was planning on porting mine this spring, is it really that tricky? How far down do you siamese the runners?

And whats the part # for the siamesed gaskets?

hay man no problem

Hawk92z-TDZ there is no siamesed gaskets that i know of. the gasket that ric and i used are Mr gasket #146. they are killer big compaird to stock ones but will still need to be cut to make them siamesed.

porting them is not to hard if you have the right tools. do you have a set of SLPS now or are you still looking for a set.

Well according to my LAW OF UPGRADES (anything that can foul up will foul up -- and cost you twice as much as you planned on to get it working right) the car will probably lose 2 or 3/10s in the 1/4 and backfire under load.

WHo says the factory system isn't leaning out one side already ???

Anyway, I have the old style SLP runners where one pair of each side is completely siamesed and the other side partially siamesed. Not sure about the lean thing anymore, have been reading about pressurized wave pulses and other rocketry. Mostly way over my head but I'm starting to get the gist of it...

No head work this year still too much back pain. I can't even get in for a CT scan till May can you believe it ? I have to go to a clinic in Niagara, USA instead. Hey come to think of it I may want to pick up some parts while I am there...

adious,

Sounds like you guys did a nice job on the runners. That 305 should be much happier breathing through those big tubes.

Without doing the heads the bigger runners should not affect your low end torque adversely and you should see an increase in horsepower above 4000 rpm.

Now that you have faith in Triggers port work why not let him have a go at the heads.

Happy modding

Yes not much harder than doin the runners you should have no trouble. All you need is a plan. Like making the same number of square inches fron one end of the runner to the other. Install venturi in exhaust port below vavle seat and match to intake runners and exhaust manifold or headers.

Hey Ratchet,

I have a set of 1 1/2 inch headers to install as well. Combined with the runners I expect to see some interesting improvements. We'll see on dyno day eh ?

If you have the runners off and you are going to take off the exhaust manifolds to install the headers ar'n't the heads just sitting there begging to be removed and opened up to match the rest of your free flowing set up. Just a question??

Hey your not doing the heads on the sly and not lettin on are yah?

D's89IROZ

I am not familiar with how to tell what combustion chamber a head has just from looking at it when it is still bolted on the engine as most junk yard heads are. The only way I know of is to copy down the casting numbers and check on mortec or somewhere to identify the heads. As for dremel grinders I have never used one to do porting. I usually use an air grinder. I have however used an eletric grinder similar to a dremel grinder but with much more power and the ability to take a 1/4" shank bit. Most of the dremel tools I have seen only accept 1/8" bits.
