holy mother @#@# won't it go away!

so....... driving around today.... taking it pretty easy, not pushing my car toooo hard, occasionally i push the gas...

suddenly i turn down the radio, and guess whose back... my old friend the throwout bearing.

that whistling sound is driving me nuts. my mechanic said if it came back he'd fix it for free, but now i'm starting to feel sorry for the guy because this will be like the 4th time he's fixing the clutch LOL (stfu acceld i know what you're going to say)

Are you running a Centerforce?
My Centerforce throwout makes a noise, but it's more of a chirping noise than a whistling. I was told this was normal, and nothing to be worried about.

when you do get it changed, carefully inspect your clutch fork. There is a peice of spring steel riveted to it, right around the "fork" area. The two ends of it turn out a little at the very end, and hold your TOB in the fork. These break sometimes and your TOB will not be situated correctly. If this looks fine, and your TOB is fine, get off your wallet and get a good mechanic.

here is the strange thing...

i turn the car on, it's fine.

i drive for 10 minutes, it's fine.

then it comes... the more i drive louder it seems to get...

when i turn off the car, and wake up the next day, it's fine...

perhaps it only happens when the engine warms up - tranny warms up... hm...

There is something to be said about a nicely built slushbox!

yea yer probably better off going to a tranny shop instead of a general mechanic. Even GM dealerships don't do ANY work on trannies. They send them all out to a tranny shop/manufacturer. I shouldn't say any as they do parts replacement but nothing internal unless it be a lube/filter change.

Give PRA Tranmission a call ask for Pete ( the owner) He done all the tranny work on my Trans am (after I gave up on it) He done a great job and never had any problems with it after that.

The # is 905 738 5140 and they are at 8635 Steeles unit 4, 1 mile north of 7
