93 Firebird
93 Firebird
Just curious to know what kinda HP a 93 Firebird has.
they claim its an LT-1 @ 275.
Seeing as my IROC was stolen and to replace it, will be close to as much as a 4th gen im kinda lookin into it.
They want about 8000 for the 93.
139 km 4sp Auto. Edelbrock headers Raven Exhaust
Any input appreciated
Thanks John

275 is what they came stock with. Probably a bit closer to 300 with the headers and cat back. 93's are speed density, which was the only year the 4th gens came like that. Some say they work well, and were the quickest stock LT1 cars. Can run into some problems with them if you start doing serious work, as it can be a little more difficult to find someone to do programming for the SD cars. I wouldn't worry about it too much, its only if you start doing things like heads/cam/forced induction/strokers etc etc.
Yeah, what Azure said
Seriously John, that sounds good for that car from the research i've done(provided the body is solid, good paint etc)
It sounds like it's been treated well with the low miles... although probably raced a few times down the 1/4
Good luck!

A good place to find out some info on 4th gens is LS1.com. There are quite a few LT1 owners on that board that may be able to answer questions about the 93's.One concern I would have is that most experts say to avoid the fist model year because of production teething problems. THese cars have been out long enough that there should be plenty of info on potential problems. The 93 models were not that plentiful, so if you need 93 specific parts from a wrecker it might become a problem(but then again I suspect there are few 93 specific parts to worry about). One potential achillies heel of the LT1 cars is the optispark, but then again you probablu know this, however considering the cars age I would want an expert opinion on the overall condition of the car.One last thing is that if you have never worked on one of these be prepared, there is literally NO room in the engine compartment. It took me and my buddy 8 hours to change his spark plugs and wires, 2 hours on the #2 plug alone. Other than that they are a great performance car and there seems to be alot of aftermarket performance parts available.

looks like a pretty decent ride. headers and a decent cat back is a nice bonus? does it have a cold air intake or anything done under the hood? 139 000 kms is pretty reasonable miliage, not to high at all. offer 6500 and see what they say. you can always go up from there.

93 was kinda an odd ball year. Similar to 85 for the 3rdgen (the last-of-the-real-f-body's I might add...lol). I'd go higher...newer the better. Remember that the 2000 and 2001's got the ls6 intake too. 98-01 are next best, then 94-97.
