I'm not sure if your aware of this BUT ......your car is qualified for the seatbelt buckle recall thru GM ...........IF you car is on the road with plates etc .

I can get you the recall # if your interested .

I had mine done last yr (mine were black ) for free from GM

What has to happen is .....

You have to take the car to any GM dealer for an visual inspection .

If your buckle red buttons are faded (you'll get them done )

Make an appointment to have it done and it takes about 4-5 hrs for them to do it .

they have to order the buckles .(ALL 4 front & Backs )

Just FYI !!!

Mark

Mark,
I also have an 87 Z28 with original buckles.
They have seen better days.
If I take it to GM, what do I tell them?
Will they match the interior colour too.... tan that is?
What do I need to do?
Do you have a recall number?

Thx, Ron

Mark: I tried that with 2 different dealerships...neither one knew what I was talking about and had to look into it further. Then both got back to me and said they couldn't find my car in the database and said it must not qualify or they have been fixed. SO if you have a dealership that you recommend, that might be helpful. I had no luck.

Mark, Chris, Paul:
Thanks for your help.
I printed the info from the link Paul sent.
But I still need to know how to approach this problem.
What to say at the dealer.

Mark, let me know if you have a dealer you deal with.
I don't want to go in there uninformed.

Thx, Ron

Call GM Canada at 1-800-263-3777. This is there customer satisfaction line, but simply tell the person over the phone that you have a few questions regarding recalls on your vehicle and they will direct you the correct department.

Once there, inform the customer service rep that you are curious to know what recalls (if any) may affect your car. Give them the VIN number, and they'll let you know over the phone what recalls there are, and if your car has ever come into a dealership because of a recall. At that time they will take all your information down, so that in future, if there is a recall, you will be on there mailing list.

While they are on the line, you may want to ask them about the seat belt recall (TC Recall #: 1990091). The following link is to the Transport Canada site.

I had mine done at Leggat Chev olds .

There were limited colours ......BLK, GRY, RED ????

I have the Recall # somewhere .

Speak with Angelo Di Capua mention me ( Mark with the Red Z28 )

Or call me and i'll call him ........but he will know about the recall .

I will find the Recall # for ya's

If anyone has any problems .....you have to give them the last 8 of the vin i believe .
