GM Motive gears are known for being pretty quiet. They're also softer than the Richmond gear sets. I have a Motive gear set. Sorry, I don't remember how quiet mine were.

Ahh that's the answer I was looking for. I know the Richmond gears will be stronger, but I will not be running slicks with this rear anyways. One more question though, where is a good place to get these gears??

Try Malmberg drivetrain in Ottawa here, they have good prices and can get anything you need.

I'd go motive as well.

Don't motive gears come stock in a 9-bolt?

I just assumed all 9-bolts were Borg Warners... how do you check?

To see if the gears are Borg Waners?

They will have BW stamped right on the ring gear in a square box wit the ratio and part number.

OK, I just called malmberg for prices and they want $388.00 for gears, $70 for a master shim kit and $103 for the mater rebuild kit, does this sound alright for price, or is it kind of high??

That sounds insane.

Order the stuff from the US and have it sent to Ogdensburg.

Corey, are you looking to go to a numerically higher gear set or just looking to replace what you have?

Oh, and the Motive gear sets are $177-$189US at Summit. So, add the $8 S&H and you're looking at $197 x 1.2 (and that's being generous) which equals around $225 Canadian. Add the 15% sales tax that you'll have to pay at customs and you're at around $258.

Wow, I am getting ripped by them!! I have a feeling the guy is chraging me full mark up. I am going to try doing it through a buddy with a shop, if that does not work then I will go through the states. Thanks for the research Paul. I don't know why everyone likes malmberg, I took my drive shaft there to be balanced, and the guys were dicks. The guy on the phone today did not want to help me at all either!!
