Yeah Baby

Way to go no more testing.

We also had ZZD E tested and passed as a regular car not hotrod status. PM JohnyIroc if you want to know how to get a car with a 294 duration camshaft 10.5 to 1 compression ported heads headers etc. to pass.

Big load off eh?
I was quite pleased last year after my last pass!!

Did you burn any special fuel, or was it timing, special program etc?

joker.

It took a whole lot, but I got it.

Anyways, I see that '87 was the last year. '88's and up will have to continue their testing, as per the new revisions to the drive clean act. I believe (if I read correctly), '88's don't become exempt until they are 30 years old and considered "historic" (hehe, they make it sound like it's some sort of dinosaur or something at that point). Here's the catch though; "if they receive designation as historic vehicles under the Highway Traffic Act." Keword IF, what the h*ll does that mean? They'll have to apply and be approved for some special status at that point?

Read more about it here;

Historic vehicles exempt from Drive Clean tests

Once a vehicle is 30 years old it can be called "historic" which means you get a "historic" branded license plate- which means it has "Historic Vehicle" stamped on the top edge. Or, for up to 1974 year vehicles, you could attach one of the older year-specific plates on a vehicle of the same year as the plate (I gather most people around here are too young to remember this, but up to 1974 you got a new license plate every year with the year stamped into the plate- whereas now you get a new sticker)- i.e. a 1970 'historic' vehicle could have a 1970-specific plate put on it.

What this also means is that you have to sign a waiver and agree that the car is only for limited use and carry an insurance plan that says the same (i.e. like a Silver Wheels type plan). What this means if you're caught on the 401 during rush hour driving such a vehicle I don't know- maybe they can revoke the "historic" status of it.
