Need help about tickets
Hey guys,
I recieved my first tickets in my IROC last sunday...
1 for not having a front plate
1 for having a bad ebrake...(officer made me put it in drive, pull the ebrake up, and take my foot off the brake, and the car went forward...I tried to tell him the ebrakes in these cars are naturally ****, but he didn't listen).
Each ticket is $110.
My question is, should I just pay it and be convicted? I'm worried that if I pay them, my insurance company will raise my insurance. Do they care about tickets like these? Or only traffic violations/speeding tickets?
Or should I fight it?

I thought you were located in Ontario California... but now I see you're in OH Canada...
... well these tickets aren't considered fix it tickets? those citations here in California aside from the ebrake will be dismissed if it is fixed ... I am not sure that there is an ebrake code here... I would google your situation and find out if you could get it fixed and go before a judge or whatever the dude at the helm in court is called...

Re: Need help about tickets
Read the ticket carefully, it should say you have 72 hours to fix it and show up at a cop shop to prove the fixes.
I had a ticket for no front plate (was in the window), so i made up a bracket to put in on my bird and went in the next morning and got it waived. I also had a second ticket for not signing the ownership. Got that waived also.

I'm not sure about the front plate ticket but the ebrake ticket will not show up on your driving record at all. I got a ticket for a broken horn and it was not on my record but the other ticket I got at the same time was put on my record.

I know they use to give you 72 hours to repair items mentioned on ticket as long as you could prove it was repaired they would cancel the ticket. Dont know if that still holds to date .....call your nearest police station (not 911) or ex- copper see what they have to say

Even if the ticket does not show up on your abstract it can affect your insurance rates.

Re: Need help about tickets
How bad is the b-brake? Mine failed inspection because of that, lowered the idle and it passed the next day. If it still has the power to pull with the e-brake on try advancing the timing a bit. Just something to think about if you can get them dropped by fixing or "bandaging" the problems lol. Even if the ticket doesn't say the charges will be dropped if you fix it, you should at least try. You never know, eh

Walk into you local cop shop, and ask if it's fixed, tickets go away? Can't see it affecting your insurance as not a moving violation. Kind of like a parking ticket I would think.

From the Ontario HTA
Brakes
Brakes, two systems required
64. (1) Every motor vehicle, other than a motorcycle, when driven on a highway shall be equipped with at least two braking systems, each with a separate means of application and effective on at least two wheels, one of which shall be adequate to stop the vehicle as required by regulations made by the Ministry and the other of which shall be adequate to hold the vehicle stationary. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 64 (1).
It does not say they have to hold it under power. I say fight it.
