Headers, Highflow-Cat, Hooker Cat-Back and advancing the timing helped mine a lot.

Intake is still lousy though.

I had the Edelbrock Performance package (carb, intake, cam, etc.) installed on mine and it helped wake my LG4 up, but for me, it really paid off yanking the 305 and popping in a 350!!

yah right!

put-up or shut-up

The only thing that altima could beat is my diesel with 4 flat tires.

Paul,

Here's the parts I used:

Edelbrock Performer intake w/EGR #3701, cam kit #2102( this cam is better suited for a 350, a little too much duration for a 305. #3702 is the cam for an LG4, but the specs don't look much better than stock!)Carb #1408 600 cfm w/EGR. (this part is no longer available, changed to #1400.) As far as heads, about the only thing I can recommend for the 305 are a set of World Products 305 Torquers #4205-A. For the exhaust, I used Hedman #68470 shorty headers and # 17470 Y-pipe and a 3" Dynomax Super Turbo exhaust kit.The Edelbrock stuff is all Emissions legal in California, so it should be O.K. here, although I haven't had my E-test yet!! As I said in a previous post, I noticed the biggest difference when I switched over to a 350, but with Drive Clean, I don't know how it will affect things.

If you insist on keeping the LG4, headers are the #1 easy cheap mod that will make a difference. The exhaust system on the LG4 sucks *** . I ripped off my cat back, and the car ran 100% better.

But what you should really do is a 350 swap. I am dropping my Dart headed 355 in next week.
