Got my tranny!
Got my tranny!
I scored a 700R4 out of a '91 firebird. I got it for $250 from a yard. I can't wait to get rid of this TH350 pos.
The same place has a set of 4th gen leather T/A seats for $200. Should I get them?

I should have... Acceld Z said he might have one for me, but I think he said it was in rough shape. Also I was only looking for the 1988 or newer model.
Is $200 good for a set of leather fourth gen seats? (they are red & black from a '95 TA)

I have a perfect tranny and one that may be bad. I won't know until I abuse the car. That is a smoking deal on the TA seats if they are in good shape. What are you going to do about the speedo sender on the tranny?
The tranny I got has the old gear driven electric speedo... the conversion is trivial... check the link.

I think I am going to have to get those seats.... I don't want to spend money on anything that won't make me go faster, but I don't think I can pass this one up. They are perfect... not one scuff!

Cool, i've never researched the swap. That does look pretty straight-forward. Even if you don't use the seats you might be able to make some $ on them. That really is a great deal. What are going with converter wise?

Ya, $200 for leather 4th gen TA seats, that is a steal! If I didnt pick up some leather for my RS I would jump all over that in a second! You could probably make some good money off those with a little bit of time and work depending on the shape of the seats

Yeah, I think I'm definitely going to have to get the seats...
I think I'm going to try and get a corvette stall... I heard they were about 1,800 RPM and not super expensive... does anyone know where I could get one?

Get one of the S10 high stall converters. I believe they hit about 2400rpm. You should be able to get a GM reman pretty cheap (relatively). Do a search on the tranny board. If you need a core let me know, you can have the converter out of my GTA.
Thanx man... I have a core that I can use. I am going to run the numbers on it tonight and find out what stall it is.... you never know, maybe the previous owner already swapped a 'vette or s-10.
