Trans-go or Superior???
Trans-go or Superior???
Hey all... I have a dilemma. Although Trans-go seems to be the kit of choice amongst all the guys here and TFbM, I am leaning toward a kit made by Superior. I wil explain why in point form:
1 Superior kit comes with a new 0.471 boost valve, and aparently trans-go does not.
2 Superior kit comes with the Corvette Servo, and Trans-go does not.
3. Mister Transmission recommended Superior after saying Trans-go is an excellent kit, but Superior is just as good, with a few extra parts
4. I was able to check Superiors' website ( http://superior-transmission.com/pro...on/700r4_V.htm ) where as Trans-go does not have one (at least I can not find it), therefore I can not get any more info on their kit.
My question obviously is; should I still go with Trans-go and add the Corvette servo, over the Superior kit? If yes, then explain why, please.
Thanx
Nathan

I'm not sure where you got your info but the Trasngo comes with a servo assembly and boost valve. They compare directly to the GM "Corvette" servo and boost valve. I am referring to the retail Transgo "Performance Shift Kit". It carries part #700 and is the version available at Summit, Jeg's, etc.
hmmm... now thats what I needed to know... the guy at the shop told me trans-go didn't come with all that "stuff" so I ask for the performace kit then? Can someone get an exact part number pleeeeease? Also.... this performance kit, do i have to drop the tranny to install this kit? Cause i am staying away from dropping the tranny. Or... maybe I can order it, and just install the stuff that can be installed while the tranny is in the car?

Daz is right, their are several different kits available from Transgo. I think the majority are intended to be "upgrades" rather than "shift kits". These are the kits that are sold by trans shops. They aren't really meant to improve the performance of the 700R4, just improve some of it's weak points.
Nathan, the kit most people buy is part #700. It's the "performance" shift kit version. It's the retail version sold by most speedshops. It includes a new servo assembly. This kit is designed to be installed with the trans in the car. It comes with additional parts for the main pump that can be installed if/when you ever take the tranny out. It comes with both a video and instruction book.

Ok.. I have a part number from summitracing.com TRG-700, it is 130bux american. Does this sound like the right kit?
After hearing what platinumGTA said... what are the downfalls of the Superior kit? Is it really japanese?

I've heard good things about Superior. The place where I got my tranny done, he reccommend both the Transgo and Superior kits. Personally I went with the rep of the Transgo kit, but I don't think you would go wrong with either one.

That's the one. I got mine for $50 off of camaroz28.com. I don't know a thing about the Superior kits. I can e-mail you a scan of the Transgo install book so you can see what's involved if you'd like.
