Help! Electric Blue, Ultra Blue what is that nice blue for the 1991/92 that you see?
I need help. I am trying to get my hands/eyes on some online paint codes and samples ( i know they are not going to be the same on the screen as they are on the chips but atleast It will help me narrow things down)
The colour I am looking for is that nice darker (not really dark) blue that you see on some of the 91 &92's hopefully that is good enought to give you an indication of what I am trying to match. I always thought it was called "electric blue" but does anyone have any colour codes that I can use to steer me into the right direction.
Thanks

Well, in 1991 it was called Ultra Blue and was code 98. In 1992 it was Medium Quasar Blue and was code 80. Check here.................

That would be the 1991 Ultra Blue. I can't find any pics of the 1992 color.

Very nice blue...That would have been my second choice for sure, next to the white.
Were the quasar and ultra the same shade of blue with different names...or were they slightly different?

It just so happens...
It just so happens that my '91 Formula is Ultra-Blue. The Quasar blue is a bit darker and Maui a bit lighter shade. I figure Ultra Blue was just about right (in the middle).
It sure works great on my car, I think it is just about perfect (smug, biased). Too bad I am on the road right now or I would post a pic for you. If you are curious check out some postings by "palric" -- I usually attach a pic.

Hey palric i think I have seen your attachment (car) in other postings. Nice ride, as for the blue, I think its going to be the Ultra Blue, or maybe that blue thats on the vipers. I think its actually called "viper blue". Guess I had better make my mind up by Wed., thats when my car goes into the spray booth.
Thanks guys!

I like 'em all
I don't remember ever seeing an 3rd gen Camaro or Firebird colour that I found objectionable. Of course I am biased so take that with a grain of salt.
I think I like the 'rust red' colour of the '88-'89 IROC the least and the canary yellow the '85-'87 IROCs the best. Otherwise, everything in between is just fine by me.
I am a shhhtickkkk in the mud about using GM colours though -- why use Viper blue when GM has about 1/2 dozen excellent shades of blue available ?

Good point man about the viper blue not being a dreaded chrysler colour. I am not all that particular about colour eg. orange being for chevy and blue for ford etc (engines), but I will take it into consideration.
I got the car dropped off wed. afternoon at the shop, I still havent made a definate decision regarding the colour, but thats cool because i still have a few weeks to decide on that. i will post a photo once its done, thanks guys!
