Tear down the TPI
I tore down the TPI this weekend. I plan on having the injectors backflushed, balanced, etc. I also have two nasty oil leaks on my intake gasket (I'll bet a few of you have seen that) right at the waistline or middle of the intake
I'm not sure if the oil leak is from the bolts or from the gasket failing -- or both. But it is starting to noticeably puddle up so I am going to put in some new FELPROs and a ton of gasket goop and hopefully it will go away for another 50k or so.
In the meantime I have managed to damage two of the injector pressure locks while removing the # 6 and #8 injectors. These will have to be replaced and I am hoping they are available at GM. Also want to replace the O-rings -- I know I can get O-ring kits.
Has anyone had to replace the swivel locks before ? These are the ones that turn in place to lock the injector into the fuel rail.
thx,
RP.

All my locks came off the injectors no problem. But I'm sure the dealer has them.
When you order the orings, make sure that they are the blue ones, not the black ones. The blue orings are a bit beefer and thus seal better. And if you're taking your fuel rail apart, make sure you order the orings for that too...I thought they came in the package with the orings for the injectors but I was wrong...they're a separate part number.
In the meantime...good luck man!

I got the felpro intake gasket set for the TPI engines. It had all the gaskets required. Make sure you seal the back china wall good or else you'll have a nasty oil leak. I learned the hard way and had to do the job over again.

I will be using a couple of gallons of tube goop (black) to ensure it is properly sealed.
But thx for the reminder eh ?

My neighbour who is an automechanic gave me a huge tube of RTV blue, he said it is the only stuff he used. I used it on my second attempt and the leaks were solved.I found that the tube of black stuff supplied with the Felpro set was not enough to do the job properly. Hey, but I'm an amateur so more expierienced people might disagree. All I know is that I don't appear to have any oil leaks from the intake anymore. The rear main bearing seal is another story.

Also, I got the complete kit which includes intake to heads, distributor ring, cork-board end-rails (but we ALL know to use tubes of goop on that instead) lower runners and upper runners. I think that was all.
