dood.... you gotta get more familiar with fixing your car, saves you tons of cash.
For the starter... all you do is disconnect the battery, then undo the wires at the starter and remove the 2 bolts holding the starter onto the block. Put the new one in reverse order... throw a couple shims in it to start (2 thin ones or 1 think one).. there ya go

I feel your pain dude
But if ya own a 10 - 20 year old 3rd Gen Camaro/Firebird you should really start looking at learning some of the basic things!
I am lucky and have a backyard garage to do my work in...I never take it to Wally Mart or Crappy Tire to even change my oil... screw that... I figure if my car is gonna get screwed up I may as well know it was me
A starter motor is one of the easiest things to replace.
You need a buddy with ramps or floor jacks!! hahahaha..
And there is room under there to get at stuff... trust me

What you need is a Haynes or Chilton manual for thirdgens. Available at any Crappy Tire. I bought one 12 years ago for my Firebird, and I learned how to work on my car. And if you run into any problems, ask questions. You have access to anybody that uses this board. There is alot of knowledge about our thirdgens on this board, all you need to do is ask. Good luck...
Sorry if i sound stupid, but please tell me you honestly, didnt tint the outside of your windows. Sorry if i misread, but thats what i think i saw.
An ya, You really should get aquainted with your car, an dont be afraid to ask questions, You have people here, who have done pretty much everything. alot of stuff can be fixed yourself, an saves tons of cash.

Dave man... We live in Hamilton brother! I have access to cheap third gen parts... I have an extra starter and I used to take about 10 starters out of a trucks a day.... I am only 19 as u know but I know alot about our thirdgens and can help u get a starter back in.... All u have to do is message me on icq or leave me a message here..
And just to let u know.... To take yer starter out, all u have to do is jack the car up and support it with axle stands... Get under it, undo 2 bolts, undo 2 wires, remove shims (if shimmed), drop starter and reverse procedure..... When I bought my high torque starter for the 383, the guy gave me the wrong bolts and I took the damn thing in and out, trying different bolts and shims about 40 times... Than finally found the right bolts and she fit like a glove...

Cause the parts and all that, and as long as someone shows me how to do something than ill know how to do it forever.

Ok Dave...that's it! When I move to Hamilton in the summer you are getting some lessons on how to do stuff yourself! It's the only way to be able to afford keeping an older car...Of course there's the initial cost of tools that you'll need to do some things, but I consider tools an investment as you will use them over and over again.
You just have to start by learning the basics and work from there and build your mechanical confidence up. Over three years ago when I first bought my car I barely knew anything about them and put myself in the poor house getting everything done by others. There's no way back then I would have predicted I'd have enough confidence in my abililities to do what I did this winter and tear down my entire TPI system. You just need to work up to stuff. I will help you out no prob as soon as I live closer...might cost ya a beer or two though!
