Warning on SLP runners

i just put in my slp runners this week and while i was putting them in i realized i had to take the valve covers off to get the bolts in. the new bolts that come with them are too long and the bolt head won't go past the valve covers. also, another thing, i had to make an extension for the oil sending unit behind the distributor because the runners would not go on with out removing it and when i went to put it back on after the runners were on, it wouldnt fit. but after all that work, it seems worth it because you can definitely feel the gain in performance with them. just a warning. thanks:lala: :lala:

Try putting the bolts into the holes, the bottom ones, and then slipping the runner into place. Work for me with the stock valve covers. If you have taller ones it might not work though. I didn't have any problem with my oil sending unit, don't know why you did.

If you put these on a 305, what mods are done to your engine, and was it worth it? Ive been hearing bad and good, just curious what your personal experience is.

That's weird cuz I've had mine in and out several times. Drop the bolts in the hole and slip them in, no problem. Oh well, they're in and that's what counts. Later

No problems whatsoever with oil sending unit. My SLP bolts also fit perfectly. These were allen head bolts and a nifty ball-type allen wrench came with them which makes installation much easier. Try slipping the bolt in the runner holes before sliding it down to the lower manifold. What is also interesting.. I noticed no SOTP gain with them also. I didnt mean to contradict everything you said, just submit my experiences as well. Glad you like the runners... I do too!

Hmm.. I had no such problems when I put on my runners. It was tough getting a few bolts in but that was it.
