h2o Injection Question

in WWII planes they used water injection cause it made air denser, and had better combustion, there for made more power., kinda like compressing more air in the chamber but not really.

Heres my plan, Im not gonna do it, just a theory.

Here would be the parts

http://shop.store.yahoo.com/seedsofc...istnozzle.html - Fog Nozzle

One of those pumps for the fake waterfall decoration things, they sell kits that have the pumps seperate.

and some of that clear tube, like the stuff for running air into fish tanks

now couldnt you drill a hole in your plenum, mount the nozzle, have a water resvoir somewhere with the pump in it, use the hose to take the water to the nozzle.

Put a button inside that powers the pump when pressed, when ya race someone use it like a less effective nitrous button.

Good Idea?

Water / alcohol injection is used mainly to prevent detonation in high boost applications, and occasionally in high compression mills. What water injection does is absorb heat from the combustion process which staves off detonation. Water / Alcohol mix injection goes one further because it is also bringming more fuel and O2 with it to the chamber. I've still never heard of running alcohol injection on a mild car though.
You might try checking the power adder baord for more on the topic. Also Willie has done some experimenting with water / alcohol on his blown 305, he might be able to point you to some good reference materials...

Actually it has to do with phase change. When a liguid changes to a gas it absorbs a ton of heat. The water itself absorbs little heat.

true dat yo
he's got it right i just took thermodynamics and got an A (i think) refrigeration cycles and the like work off the same principle really interesting stuff if you look into it.

so what are ya's saying, my idea would or wouldnt add power, I wish I had a toy I could try stuff like this on, but I wouldnt do it to my car.

if it would make power, it seems like it would be a cheap easy mod, except drilling a hole in your plenum, or wherever you'd put it.

I have water injection on my car. It is part of a kit for supercharging but I don't see anything happening witha n/a motor. It looks like you are not short on funds(play station/ram air hood) Why not do some intake mods or a blower.
