Headers?? Any Ideas?

Hey everyone.. it's me again... I wanted to get SLP headers, but I can't justify spending over 1000bux for headers. I was thinking of getting Edelbrock TES headers. what do you guys think?

Others I am looking at are Dynomax and Flowtech

Anything is better than the stock exhaust manifolds. You know??
But yea I seen some on a guys camaro out at the track and thay looked good and he said they helped his car out alot at higher rpm's he said he was happy with them.He also said that they bolted right up and he as not had any problems with blowing the header gaskets since he got them about a year ago.

If you do not want to pop for the SLP's, then I would check out MAC headers. They make a very nice product, I cannot remember their website off-hand, but I could find it later if you need it.

I checked out www.macperformance.com and the only headers for any GM product is a truck, and 98-00 Camaro.. nothing for 3rd gens.

the nickle/chrome plating that Edelbrock offers on their headers, is it durable and worth it?

www.mac-parts.com, for 86-92 f-bodys. They have 1 5/8 headers for 399.99. They are a lot nicer then the step design of the edelbrock. Especially if you want to move that power band up a little bit. I would have gotten them for my car except I wanted 1 3/4 headers for my car.

Hey Nick, thanx... What kind of limits do I run into with the 1-5/8" tubing? They look good. I like the single AIR tube on each side, cleaner looking.

Yeah I really like the look of those MAC headers. The 1 5/8 is not ralley going to limit you until you are getting into, I would say the 12 second range in the 1/4 mile. I wanted to kill all the low end torque in my car so I went with the 1 3/4, but it is still a torque monster. I think I am going to try long tubes in the distant future.
I do not like the edelbrock because they use 1 1/2 and 1 5/8 primaries to help low end torque. Which I feel the TPI does not need anymore of.

I like my headmans, they are the $99 cheapies, but if emissions is necessary, they are not what you want

I have the Edelbrock headers and though they are better than the cast manifolds they are nowhere near the flow and quality of the SLP headers I had on another car. But if you want the best power increase get Hooker long tubes, they without question make the best power increase you can get. Also I know you have a budget but if you in an area that uses salt in the winter spring for a coating like Jethot it will help underhood temp. and you wont have to buy new headers again in a few years.

Hmmm, I wonder if smuggling car parts into canada and selling them at U.S prices would be a good hobby

I ran cheapie Hedmans also 1 5/8'' primaries with 3'' collectors, and since they only cost me 84.99 from Summit, (a few years ago thats what they were), I sent them out and had them Jet-Hotted for 195.00, WELL WORTH IT, they look like brand new....
