i haven't taken it to the track yet, but i'd say in the mid 14's cause i raced a 96 auto formula and i was just a tad faster. the motor has less than 20,000 mile on it.

Dude, I dont want to get yelled at as usual when some one asks this question. I usally say 305's suck. Then some one with a 305 gets mad and goes on how 305's rule. But none of that.
Cruise with your 305 and save money for now. Then when you have enough saved drop in a ram jet 350 with all the goodies.
305 people get off my back.

umm....if you have a 305 and are lookn for mid to high 13s....stick with that motor...but high 12s? that is 350 territory b/c you can get there MUCH cheaper. .....i am running a 305...not a 350..so you know...unbiased.

For easiness and cost I'd go with the 350 for 12's-low 13's N/A. Anything else a 305 is pretty good.

I've been through that whole deal...deciding whether to keep the 305 or go to 350....i'll tell ya this. You have low miles on the 305, so I'd stick w/ that for now (as a few people have already said) and either save money for a crate motor....zz4 or ramjet...or progressively build a motor. But if you go to a 350, dont do it half *** and get some joe schmo 350...go all out, you'll be happy you did.

Future mods: Holley Stealth Ram, SLP 1 3/4 headers, AFPR, and a 150 shot of NOS
well, you could do what I am doing. Build the 305 using all parts that will transfer onto a 350 block when you are able to do so.
The Stealth Ram, headers AFPR and NOS that you mention as future mods will all bolt onto the 350 later on. Put them on the 305 for now.
Your 10.1 compression is pretty healthy to put a 150 shot into but it looks like you have a pretty tough bottom end to put it into.
Good Luck.

From what i have read on the boards here, Sence its a low mile strong running 305 keep it for now and do mods to your car that will transfer over to a 350 later: Intake, Exhaust, Suspension(traction!!), just to name a few. Its all in what YOU want to do with your car. The 305 is a good engine and can make so serious ponies if done right but the more hp you want out of it the more expensive its gonna get. Where as the 350 will be cheaper and easier to get higher Hp's out of, though maybe not right away(gettin the block or what have you). Like i said its really all about what you want to do with your car. Have Fun and good luck
yeah,
305, why not just go with a v tech...
-just joking-
Spend your money on the suspension that way when you have the power later on you'll be able to apply it.
Suspension is alot more reliable than a hopped up motor.
I've seen junk yard 302's put in 3200lb mustangs and run 8.30's on motor.(1/8th) That was on radials. The boy had hell of a susupension though.
He got 21m/g, decently fast car, and a reliable car with cold air and power steering.
Now that's putting your money where it counts.
