TPI parts identification

Could someone identify these parts for me? Are they stock ported parts? Are they hi-performance parts not ported? Are they stock unported parts? The reason I ask is I have a chance to buy them and can't really tell by looking at pics...but I'm an amateur. Also, would they work on the car in the sig and produce some more horses and/or torque?

Sorry, I guess I'm a moron. I can't get a pic to post. Can someone give me some guidance on attaching a pic or email me at imnraged@aol.com and let me know it's ok to send you the pics to examine?

They look like stock unported parts. Look in the front of the throttle body opening and see if the little ledge on the bottom just inside the plenum is there. If theres any porting been done that would likely have been removed.

BadGTA, do you have any pics or more info on your parts? I really want some ported stuff but the funds are a problem right now. However, $200 sounds pretty good for some porting that's done right. What year is the car your parts are from? Also, Tommyboy, the guy wanted $300. I'm glad I got out of that deal.

Thanks for the info. I see TPI's ranging from $100 on junk bay to $200 in the motor city. I just ripped apart a 305 87 Formula and wanted to get a general idea of how much the TPI's worth. Any body with 1.5 or 1.6 RR , I would gladly give you this fine unit for a trade. Thin style rockers. No big fatty cranes.

I am actually going to say that they are mildly port matched stock parts. still not worth 300.00

No trouble at all, badgta. Unless something incredible comes up, I'm going to wait you out on this one. I'd like to have first crack at your parts if that's ok. Please just show some pics when it's done and we'll deal. As for the Stealth Ram, well...I just don't have a lot of money. Which is one reason I want to go with ported stock parts. The other reason is I want to stay as stock as I can. (Ported stock TPI and ported stock heads) I want it to look stock but just be a little better. Also, it's my daily driver and I'm not trying to be too radical. Thanks for the reply.

cool fred... here is a pick of her when she was in the ta.. the only reason i'm selling is because she just isn't going to flow enough air for 500hp... hopefully the dude at the shop will get his *** movin!!

badgta, to what extent are these pieces being ported? It's just port matching right? From the heads/intake up to the plenum/throttle body? The reason I ask is I'm unsure what the limitations to the stock components would be.

porting

the base can be done either way.. siameesed, where the metal that seperates the runners are completely taken out or just ported out.. the plenum will be done the same and were going to try somthing new and better that might give even a few more hp... will do the way you want or i can sell you the hole tpi unit for 100$ and you can have it done specifically for what your wanting.. the parts either ported or not will be cleaned and painted metallic silver just like factory for a nice looking peice.. let me know dude...

badgta, all I'm concerned with is the very reasonable $200 you quoted me for the ported stuff. As long as we stay at that price, you can port match, or you can kick that induction system's ***!

The limitation is the internal diameter of the runner tubes. Porting the plenum or intake or heads for that matter larger than the tubes is a waste of time and money.

Not that I don't trust you, bad. IMO, you're just giving me such a good deal, I was just making sure I was reading it right. :-) I'll be waiting for info.

badgta, are you matching these openings to gaskets? Would it be easier if I sent you the TPIS big mouth gaskets I intend to use to match them? Let me know.

ported tpi

hey fred.... the way where going to try to port them is actually taking the middle section that seperates the runners out.. stock tpi's are pretty big gaskets and i think tpis just sells them to fool people.. i'll show ya what i mean with the pics.. there is a tech article intitled siameeseing you tpi and it shows exactly what we will be doing... when will smooth everything better for even more flow... give me a little time and you'll have your intake and waxing stangs in no time!!!
