Delete A/C and AIR pump in serp belt setup ???

now here's a crazy thought !! ... use a 66-70" belt and route like pictured .. if it links :\ pardon the stolen pix and bad sketch .... you have to switch to the old style water pump because it rotates the "other" way ... ????

That's an interesting thought, but I'm not seeing how it requires the use of the old standard-rotation water pump. You can clearly see by looking at it that belt will rotate the water pump in the opposite direction from the crank, which is the same as factory.

In fact, your routing is very close to the factory style routing except for how it handles the tensioner. I can see three problems there: 1), the tensioner is now rotating in the opposite direction; 2) The ribbed part of the belt is toward the tensioner rather than the smooth part; 3) the angle of the force imparted on the belt tensioner has changed.
