Superram to modified lt1

Superram to modified lt1

What would be the performance differance between a superram and a modified lt1 intake? I Think the lt1 intakes look better, and are designed better than the superram. It makes more sence for the runners to go in between the fuel rails thatn around them. I want to switch, but will I loose power?

I think ur desicion is wise my friend.. the superRam is a torque monster and thats it, it still has the problem of no Hp at upper RPM's.. this is where the Mini-Ram or LT1 intake some in with the 3 inch long runners, it asks at a tunnel ram, u still can make low end torque but u can make very nice Hp numbers up until 6500rpm.. if anything u will gain.. u may lose a little torque depending on ur combo and how ur combo reacts to the change but generally from what i've seen in the past there are only gains, no losses.. and u will definately definately gain Hp..

Get ready to rev that puppy! I've reved mine to 6500 a couple of times and it felt like it would easily pull strong to 7000. I just recently had my tranny built and went with a 2500 stall. This was before the LT1 intake. Now I wish I had at least a 3000. Just upgraded to 3.73's from 3.27's also. I did lose some torque down low, but it makes it easier to launch now.

That sonds great. Will my Throttle body work on an lt1, or will I have to buy a new one? The lt1 sould work great with the t56 I have planned for the winter.

BTW...When you did your gear swap, did you correct you're speedo? If not, How far off is it now?

With a T56 it will be awsome! Your TB will work. You will need to get a throttle cable bracket from a LT1 car. If you plan to run it with the auto until you swap in the T56, get a '93 bracket since thats the only one that came with a TV cable. I had to modify the end of my cable and the bracket a bit.

The gear swap has just been completed and I haven't got by the shop to pick the car up yet. I expect it to be off quite a bit. I'll let you know how far off when I drive it this weekend.

hey steve I got a ? for you about your cold air intake. What did you use for that shiny pipe? is that a exuast pipe or what is that? Also what did u do to attach it to the throttle body?

It's 316 stainless pipe that the pipefitters use in the shop at work. I purchased some stainless weld 90's from Pac Stainless and had the guys weld it up. I used a 4"x3" rubber sewer connector from Home Depot to connect to TB.

What would you recommend me doing. Im in the process of doing the lt1 intake, but im gonna do a cai set just like you have. Also what did you use to attach ur MAF sensor. I see those red thing, but what are they and where do I get them?

Hey 92Superram...I think that the info here is good, except for a few things....I haven't seen anyone with a modded Lt1 intake have it dynoed to see if it makes more than 425 HP or so...If the info is out there, please respond with it.

Lingenfelter, on the other hand, has used the SR to produce in excess of 500 HP (actually about 525 or so). Granted, this was ported a bit, but the fact remains that with your combo, it wouldn't matter. I am sure that your heads are still your limitation right now...in fact, your 350 is a bigger limitation than anything. Why? cause bolt on all your stuff to a 406 with a slightly bigger cam and you have a monster street engine.

Also is the fact here that unless you need to spin your engine to 7000rpm to make power, why go there? Which would you rather have, an engine that makes its peak power at 5800 rpm or 7000 rpm, especially if the peak power is the same?

Lastly, check into the stealth ram. I talked to David T at Thunder Racing and he said that the stealth ram is at least comparable to the SR in terms of power potential.

Your engine is far from stock and until someone shows a 500 HP dyno graph with a modded LT1 intake, the jury is out...

If you do the LT1 intake swap, and a hot cam, you will need some prom tuning. I burn my own and can tell you that things have changed drastically. I'm going to dump the MAF and go with SD. The red things are turbo hose connectors from www.hosetechniques.com. They are kind of pricey, but look good.

about the superram being a tourqe monster i agree..but you also hae to remeber the lt1 camaro firebirds made there peak tourqe at 2,400 rpms and hada very falt curve
