I was wondering if anyone out there has tried to make their own custom ram air setup with the stock louvers in the hood on like an 86 t/a. I was thinking about cutting up the hood and run some duct work to the louvers. Any advice?

 

yesterday i ran the q-mile with out the air filter i gained a good 2.5 tenths in the q-mile so i asume getting rid of the stock setup would be a must

 

i was thinkin about doin a similar thing...i was gonna use an iroc air intake..the one with the dual inlets in front, the cut 2 holes in it and cut the bottom of the hood were the louvers are...that way like u said the vents would be funcional,.

 

I have talked to others that have tried that as I had the same idea as you. The Iroc Air Intake will not fit under our hoods due to our hood design. I have cut out my vents so they flow air into the engine compartment and get rid of some of the heat in there and bring fresh air in.
