Stock TPI times
Stock TPI times
What are some of the faster stock TPI times at the track? (Stock Base Stock runners, stock plenum stock TB) WIth mods, the more the better.
I want to see if my times this friday are good or not considering the limitations of my tpi setup

How far did you siamese port the intake? I tried using a siamese ported intake that was ported almost all the way through. Had maybe 1.5 - 2" left. My car slowed down quite a bit. Had way more top end power, but lost all low end torque. By switching back to a stock intake, the car went over a full second faster.

Stock L98/base/runners/plenum/tb/manifolds I managed a 13.521 on a 1.77 60ft Nov of 2001 in good weather at Englishtown NJ. On street tires I managed a 13.782 on a 1.905 60ft at Atco in NJ earlier this year...

Best time is in my sig. My average is a 13.5 @ 102 mph. I replaced the block/heads/cam when the stock engine died. Still haven't had enough money to upgrade the TPI yet.

I tried running the stock PROM. Then I played around with the spark advance table and power enrichment settings to no avail. I even tried out my old Hypertech chip. Times were not different by more than a tenth when switching between custom PROMs and stock. I pulled the siamesed intake off and got a full second faster on my 0-60 times. Then tweaked the PROM and got another .5 sec quicker. I went from 2.4 60' times with it siamesed, to 1.9 60' times with a stock intake. 15.45 @ 92 with siamesed intake, 13.56 @ 105 with stock intake. Maybe the siamese porting thing works for some setups, but the proof is in the pudding. My car got slower by porting the intake.
I ran a 13.50 @108 on my G-Tech, however I haven't had it at a real track yet since motor swap. I have stock plenum, runners, base, and basically stock heads. I do have another cam in it plus a fully balanced bottom end with 9.73:1 full floating forged pistons. That ET is also with 2.73 gears. I also have SD and burn my own proms which knocked 8 tenths off once I got it properly tuned.
Future plans include AFR heads and a giant cam.
BTW, I see everybody else with 13.50 ET's are running 105 mph. I wonder why my G-Tech consistently says 107-108? Maybe it has something to do with my 2.73 gears?

IrocZ88, its not your gears. G-Tech will consistently read 3-4 mph over what an actual dragstrip timeslip shows. G-Tech actually shows the speed at the instant you hit the 1320' mark, where the track takes the average speed from the last 60'. It says right in the G-Tech owners manual about that. Every pass I do at the track I have G-Tech running. Its ALWAYS within a tenth on the time, and 3-4 mph higher on the speed.
I siamesed the manifold in about 2 inches or so...
That seems odd that you GAINED time with an unsiamesed manifold...

Its certainly soft down low, then you hit a sweet spot and its like a switch, goes off like a rocket, unfortunatly it doesn't leave enough rpm range to turn it into a quick ET.
Its all going to be passed tense pretty soon anyways, I'm focusing on that lt1 intake I've gotta have some fun with it before the rainny season comes again
