just orderd from SDPC

man, those manifolds are back ordered like a ****. I got the upgraded heads, TPI manifold, all new head/intake bolts, gaskets, etc etc etc. Great customer service BTW from a guy named Chris Jones. I will port & match the heads with the manifold and plenum.

Anyway, I hope with these parts and my Compucam (214/220) I can get into the 10's!! I need .73 to go 10.90's

Anyway, just thought Id mention it

Yeah, forgot to mention that...Vortec manifold and heads. Pretty decent prices(compared to the competition), so what the heck.

My next "thing" I have to figure out is what I'm going to do w/ the EGR.

I have SLP 1 3/4 headers w/ no provisions for this EGR garbage and frankly I could care less about the EGR. But what will it do to my computer? I know it wll throw an SES light but will it affect performance or driveabilty?

I was thinking to just make a couple block off plates and call it a day. Whatcha think?

You want 10's on vortec?

If at all possible you want to block off EGR at the head so you dont have that hot gas in your intake manifold, maybe get ahold of someone who can weld up the EGR ports for you or soemthing.

Headers dont determin anything to do with EGR, you must mean A.I.R, which wont throw a code. If you unplug your EGR you WILL throw a code but thats only 1 prom burn away from being fixed.

hmm, the "EGR kit" that SDPC uses with their Vortec head/manifold kit apparently "plumbs" into the exhaust system somehow. I cant get a good pic of exactly where it goes b/c its cut off at thier website.

Welding the EGR ports at the head is not a problem and I will do that I guess. I dont care if the SES light is on "per say" as long as the car isnt going to hurt in the performance/driveability departments.

Soon enough I will buy the equipment and start prom nurning as well.

So, do you know if the EGR being disconnceted will throw the comp into a fit?

I ran my car for over a year with no EGR and no custom prom, and performance was deffinatly there.. you shouldn't have an issue if all ports are blocked correctly. However dont get me wrong, I ALWAYS recommend prom burning.

Its in my opinion one of the top 3 mods that belong on a thirdgen, one of the others being SFC's

There's some things GM just didn't take the time to do right

It's not the EGR itself you have to worry about - it's the EGR solenoid.
There is a way to fool it into thinking your EGR system is intact.
All you need is some RTV.
There are 2 vacuum lines going to the solenoid and you need to RTV one of them but I can't remember which and my car is in SC and I'm in WI right now.

Maybe someone else can help.

If all else fails then do a search. Sorry.

cool. I will make sure an block the EGR ports off well and just make a block off plate for the manifold. Then I will burn it out of the chip in a few more months.

I need approx 7/10's to run in the 10's and Im also willing to go an extra 25 HP of nitrous...ohh Im also swapping a nice cam in there too

ohh...hmm thanks for the info CHubby...Ill look into it. You know what.....there is th enormal mounting "pad" for the EGR valve (under the plenum) and the SDPC has their "EGR provision" buy the back of the manifold, a few inches away from the distributor....I AM CONFUSED lol

His NOS wet kit must be pretty big.

Hey tpi_roc! Just out of curiousity, what's the 3rd thing on the list?

In no particular order:

1. Sub Frame Connectors
2. Custom PROM
3. ???????????

My best pass as of now is:

1.625 60'

11.722 @ 116mph

using 26" tall Hoosiers and a little over 150 shot (mathematically)....close to 175 I would say due to high bottle pressure, etc etc

dont have the 1/8th with me (or the slip) this is just off the top of my head. I backed it up with an 11.78 pass and 2 more 11.8X passes as well since then.

Brian: the third would be LCA relocation brackets

I guess that is assuming that you got the car with posi and a decent ratio like 3.42:1

Those three things both were increadibly cheap (I made my own sfcs) and had tremendous gains... If i ever bought another thirdgen they would be the first things to happen.
