I added N2O to my 350 TPI Fiero

A few months ago I posted about my fiero with the 350 TPI. I wanted to get more power and you guys threw a bunch of suggestions at me (my favorite one was to upgrade my photoshop ) well here are a couple of pics of what ive done.

I ported the intake and added a 58 mm throttle body. Also I added SLP Runners that combination alone gave me about 700 more RPM. And I added a NX nitroius system.

my next project is to add a N2O controller and convert the TPI to speed density from MAF. Then ill start playing with the chip.

so, what you guys think?

How quick is that little rollerskate? LOL I never should have gotten rid of mine, I had considered the 350 swap for a while but couldn't afford it at the time. How bad was the swap?

So, how did you manage the water pump drive? I've seen a few "2M8" conversions and the water pump is always a point of contention.

I had a few opportunities, but finally got out of the game myself:

I used a CVR eletric waterpump (jegs) Its mounted upside down. It fits pretty well. I had to trim some sheet metal so the electic motor would clear.

Gotcha. Most of the swaps I've seen have the right inner fender/splash shield cut out. One creative drive I saw used a small timing belt, short pump, and electric motor like you describe. The belt hung in the rear wheel opening right alongsided the tire with no apparent problems.

BOOM went the tranny

I took the car to Cicero (esta drag strip)
Its a "real" strip unlike my local short track. Well the car pulled up to the line the light went green ..... and thud broken tranny. The car just about pulled the front wheels off the ground but the car barely moved a foot. It looks like the spider gears blew and grenaded the case. Of course this was the first run so I didnt even get a time slip and I had the N2O off. Oh well I have all winter to come up with a stronger tranny for my v8. Ill pull the tranny in the next couple of days and Ill give you the report on its exact cause of death. I suspect torque overdose. hopefully I can find a cure.

Im now looking into cryo treating of the internals and case maybe this is the answer

So what tranny are you going to use?? Is there anyway to use the Cadillac front wheel drive tranny? That would be sweet because they have 300 hp stock, so it could take the power.

First run at the track, light goes green, 1 millionth of a second into the run, BOOM. I just half to laugh at that. In some pontaic magazine, guys were racing around the track with their modded Grand Ams. One guy blew the tranny, and found the gears around the track. Well, have fun building your tranny. The car looks awesome!

i must confess. I kind of like Fieros. Especially the GTs. Man, they look good. If you put a 350 in it, you are a maniac! I want to borrow it one night so I can mess with a Z06. Thing must fly!

Does anyone know what an L98 powered fiero would run??

Im going to build another getrag 5 speed. The one that blew had over 100000 miles on it. Im going to have the internals Croygenicaly treated. It is supposed to increase the strenght dramaticaly.

Im using custom axles that are made with a stonger alloy then stock. ( ive snapped the stock ones )

Im using an archie kit

I just got a couple of trannys from the salvage yard today. Ill start to disassmble them and that way I can order new parts for the worn stuff in the tranny. When I have all the parts together ill ship it off to get hardend.
