Cam suggestions

Hey guys, ive been deciding on all the performance goodies for the IROC. Heres what Im down too:

Vette L98 heads
Edelbrock intake
Slp runners
All ported and siamised
58mm tb
24lb injectors
higher stall converter
no egr

Ive really been thinking about the lt4hot cam, but now im kinda leaning towards the zz4. Which one would you guys rather perfer. I want my car to at least be able to hang and maybe beat some stock ls1s and run some decent times. I wont be able to get a custom prom for a while. From what Ive heard Ill at least need to have the heads machined to handle the lift of either correct? If I got the lt4 kit it would come with everything I wanted. What springs and rockers would you suggest if I went with the zz4. I really need help on this as Im going to get started on buying the parts soon. Any help is extremely helpful.

Forget the 58mm TB and buy the custom PROM equipment with the money you didnt spend on it.

Where Can I get this cam? does it require any machine work either? I actually found a place that fill bore out your stock tb to 52mm For like $150. And the more and more i read about the custom prom burning the more confused i get. Any more input will be appreciated. Thanks

Bort is right, use the money you were going to spend on the TB
and get set up to burn proms. The stock TB flows enough as it is.
Cam selection should be take seriously. I have built motors in the
past and honestly expected to drive them to work but have had
to recam them to tame them down. And it's a real pain to swap
cams when the engine is in the car. I would go with the LT4 if it
is a daily driver and the ZZ4 if it is a week end toy.

With either cam though you will need bigger heads than the vett
heads. They will not flow what you will need without alot of work.

What type of work would I have to do to the heads? I really dont have 1k to spend on heads right now, but I know where I can get vette heads for kinda cheap. is it something a machine shop can do? If there is another alternative heads, what woulld they be? TIA again

You would need to port the **** out of them to get them to flow
enough. A set of Vortec heads would do nice since you have not
bought the intake parts yet. You would need to have the top of
the valve guides cut down for the high lift cams but you would not
have to port them, they flow enough as is. Then just select the
intake components to match the heads and WAM, you have a low
buck set of heads that will let either cam do it's job properly.

What about this setup? Does anyone know if this comes with rocker arms or not. It says that they come with new springs and are already machined for a lt4 hot cam. Ill shoot them a message also to see if it does or not. It also says it comes with headers. Im sure that they would be for f-bodys since the kit is for tpi cars,

Anyone currently running that setup? Id go with the LT4 hot cam with it if I got it. They said they got 375hp with the stock prom and tb. I was reading the previous cost about their intakes and a couple guys said they were happy with the setup. My car wont be a daily driver so total reliability wont be a problem. I would love to get into the 12s and cream my buddies ss!
