What to expect from stealthram with this setup
Hi all, i was just wondering what your best "guess" would be for total hp with the stealthram as opposed to my stock Tpi on this motor i dropped in my car, here's the stats:
355 .030 over 9.1 compression
AFR 195 heads, Comp Camps roller grind for blower specs:
276 intake 290 exhaust
220 at .050, 230 at .050
510 intake with 1.5 rocker
510 exhaust with 1.5 rocker
114 lobe
Crane aluminum rockers 1.6 ratio
TRW blower pistons Total seal rings
Eagle Sir Rods 5.7
GM 1053 steel crank
Fluidamper and tci flywheel
Edelbrock aluminum water pump
High flow exhaust from the edlebrock T.E.S headders all the way back.
The motor pulled 397HP at the crank with the mini ram, before i bought the motor, i couldnt afford the whole setup, so i kept my TPI from my stocker and put it on, but i want more power that the tpi can provide.
I do have an ATI D1 unit, but id like to know what i can do with this motor before i put on the SC, what kind of increases will i get, whats going to happen with the torque curve, from what i understand the low end power will be drastically reduced and the top end will get a little stronger, is this true, what can i expect ?
what HP can i look to make with the stealthram ?
Thanks f-body brothers !

With AFR 195s and that cam, its gunna want to peak alot higher than the TPI's choke point in the high 4k range. The HSR should put you near the miniram's numbers.
Using the info I have gotten from Holley and from others about the Stealthram, i would have to say that the HP #'s should be about the same as the miniram. The SR seems to make a little bit less HP than the miniram, but make a little more torque. - anyone else?
IF ... you install that cam 6 degrees retarded you should be close to 425hp/440tq the dynamic compressions a little low for max hp, anything you can do to get up around 10:1 will help,(a gain to about 440hp/460tq)

torque is basically the result of cylinder pressure (dynamic compression) and leverage (stroke) plus the NUMBER OF POWER STROKES PER MINUTE (rpm) from the cylinders that are efficiently filled (volumetric efficiency). up to a certain rpm level the cylinders don,t efficiently fill due to low port air speed, above that level the valves and pistons move too fast to effectively fill the cylinders due to lack of time. your highest torque will be at the point where the engine spins the fastest it can while still packing the cylinders to the max efficiency.
here read this info on cams
http://www.newcovenant.com/speedcraf...camshaft/1.htm
(lessons 1-8)
then look at the chart to get a rough idea as to the duration necessary to fill the cylinders effectively . duration , lift and LSA are all a combo that must match compression, displacement, rod length to stroke ratio, port size and length, exhaust scavageing effectiveness, ETC.
look here EXAMPLE
http://www.iskycams.com/ART/techinfo/ncrank1.pdf
then look at your cam spec sheet, the piston compresses nothing untill the piston has reached the point where both valves are closed, from that point on your compressing the voluum in the cylinder. look at this cam
http://www.compcams.com/information/...umber=12-433-8
the pistons not compressing anything untill 77 degrees past BDC, looking at the other chart we see that the piston is about 2.4" down the bore on a 350 chevy not the 3.5 inches that the engines static compression in theory could compress
in your case that cam drops the DYNAMIC COMPRESSION TO ABOUT 7:1, that kills your non-supercharged power but thats a big plus WITH THE SUPERCHARGER, I would just figure on useing the supercharger because you cant have it both ways your either set up for supercharger use or for natural asperated not both, my sugestion too increase your compresion to 10:1 was based on YOU wanting MAX NON-SUPERCHARED POWER

I just had a thought, since there are no provisions for an egr it isint exactly emmision leagal, however i read somewhere on this board that it could be "tuned" to pass the sniffer, what would one have to do ? set the timing forward or back, run additives, turn down the fuel pressure ? maybe grumpyvette could chime in on this one ?
