How do you "properly" eliminate the cold start injector from the rail?

I have a complete 1991 speed density TPI setup with no fuel rails that I'm putting together for a friend of mine. I was then able to snag the fuel rails from an 86 TPI for dirt cheap, but it has the cold start injector. So, how do you properly plug the hole in the rail after removing the cold start injector? After this modfication, will the rails work right with the newer TPI components?

Thanks,
Mike (1bad91Z)

Accel makes an overpriced block off kit
that includes the rail plug and the runner
plug. (p/n 74820)

Street and Performance sells just the rail plug
for $20 or less. (http://www.tunedport.com/)

Or you can check with the "fittings" Mfg's
like Earl's, Russel, etc. and find one or one
that adapts to AN and get an AN cap...

IIRC, it is a 16mm thread..

I've got a bunch of spare plugs. $10 shipped and it's all yours. I bought a bunch of these because the Corvette Forum guys were complaining that they couldn't find any. I forked over money for a bunch of them, then only 1 lousy guy bought one. So anyway... I've got a few if you want one. I'm running one on my IROC and it works great.

Here's the cold start injector insert at the back of the rail:

Here it is with my cap on it:

I had the plug from Street & Performance. It was $15.00, but its made specifically for plugging that hole in the rail and it looks nice & shiny. Everything will work as normal once the plug is installed. I was using an '87 fuel rail on my '92 speed density setup with no issues as that's the ONLY difference between '85-'92 TPI fuel rails.

Yup. Fastguy is the only guy that actually bought one. I should check with him to see if he installed it yet or not.

You could just leave the injector in the hole, or you could upgrade to 89+ runners. When I bought my SLP runners, I just bought the 89+ style without the hole.

I have a spare 1991 TPI base and runners, the only thing I need is the rails or to block off an old set of CS-injector rails. I may be buying a block off cap from you soon!

well i have an 85' Z... so i cant swap out the base. i also have the entire TPI set up from an 89' formula. i was just going to switch to the 89' TPI minus the lower intake. will i need to block anything off?

Just leave your 85 base on there you shouldnt have any problems. I dont see the point in swaping them though. There wont be any preformace gains from it.

What type of thread sealer do you use on the block-off cap?

well i got the deal on the 89' SLP runners and i am going to be switching to the 89 computer and since the 89' TPI stuff is already out, i can port it while the car is still driveable, then do it all at once.

You can also elongate the bolts on the 89 intake and make it fit the older style if you wated too.

I used teflon paste. I didn't use tape because I was afraid that it may plug the injectors... not that paste couldn't do it too. I've had zero problems so far though. No leaks and no injector problems.
