Those with Vigilantes, did you "break in" per instructions?

I know a few of you in here have Vigilante converters, so I thought I would post in here for a quick response. I'm putting in a Vigilante 3200 tomorrow. The instructions say to go through like 50 lock ups to break it in. Man I never drive this car very far, so that could take a long time. Did you do that many lockups before really trying it out? I have yet to get into a street race since I've had the car, but you watch, as soon as I put this in...here comes the Mustang. How critical is it to avoid some WOT launches?

I dont have a Vig, but I run a Yank 3200 lock up. I didn't do any kind of "break in" on it (nor was I advised to by Yank) and it has worked flawlessly for a couple years now. It was coupled to a new engine so I didn't go out and immediately mash it, but lots of moderate throttle.
Hope this kind of helps. Hopefully Ed sees this.

Steve, I've seen a lot of Vigilante's in local Buick GN's when I had one of those cars years ago. From everything I know about them, you do have to follow their break in instructions. They have gone from the 7-disc lock-up clutch to a better design 5-disc clutch the past few years as well. You should also know Precision has instructions for modifications to the transmission for increased oil flow when using the 2004R transmission, but I don't know if this applies to our 700R4's or not. I'm sure one of the guys here with a Vig will give you a better and more informed answer.

Dave

I followed the instructions as well as I could I don't believe that it came with suggestions on changing the 700R4 oiling, but I have a full blown TransGo kit, so the oiling is updated.

This is a 2004R specific thing, and after talking to them, they told me only to do it if I had problems. Go figure.

It's installed...I made 27 lockups yesterday, so I'm over half way there. I can definately feel a difference. Just mashing the gas halfway on take off lights up the Nitto DR's. I would really like to put some slicks on this thing and feel the G's with traction. Anybody running M/T ET Streets for street duty?
