Sometimes it wont turn over

I've been having a problem with the car I just bought and I figured it might be the starter due to the guy not installig the heat sheild when he put headers on the car. Sometimes when I go to turn the key all it does is click and nothing happens only clicks once. Am I right to think its the starter? or could it be the battery post? the positive post hes had on there is a standard bolt not a lead bolt. I was told that could be the problem any ideas? Thanks for all your help

Dustin

does it only do this once the car has been run and you need to start it again once it has warmed up?

The bolt on the battery will not give you any problems, unless of course, if it is loose, or made of plastic...... So long as the battery terminal makes good contact, you are all set.

If you turn the key, and all you get is a click, more than likely, it is time for a starter. If it only does this after the engine is warm, the heat shield (sp?) may or may not solve the problem. Taste, and see. Can't hurt...... (and cheaper than a new starter.....)
