Its inserted in front of the Thottle Body to smooth the air flow. You can do a search for additional info.

It goes right into the middle of your thottle body to cut the airflow and therefore reduces turbulence, The reduction in turbulence should yield a real result of about 15cfm more flow.

All the airfoils are overpriced. SLP's is the least expensive but their shipping charges are outrageous. They ship the airfoil shrinkwrapped on a card thats about 8"x8" square at most, in a box thats a good 24" square x 12" tall. If they shipped them in a padded envelope the shipping would probably be $1.50.

Ebay typically has several auctions running for airfoils, do a search. There are some cheesy no name ones that various sellers are selling, and then there are the name brand pieces. Avoid the JET, Holley, and the composite airfoils. Stick to SLP, Hypertech, TPIS, etc. The main difference is materials and how they install. You want aluminum, and you want it to be retained by a screw/nut.

Forgot to mention the benefits... Throttle response is improved, flow should be improved. There was no remarkable seat of the pants difference when I installed an SLP airfoil in my 91 Formula 350. The only downside is that you may want to replace the gasket for the TB cover.

My opinion is that its not worth doing unless you find one for under $40 to your door.
