Cam for SR/408

Ok I need some help/suggestions.

What I have is a SR 408 using Dart Iron Eagle 200 heads. Cam I have in there now I think is to mild. Streetabilty is awesome and I think I can sacrifice a lot more and still be streetable.

What I have for a cam now is 224/228 .510/.510 112 hydraulic roller. I can't decided which way to go with this.

With this cam I have managed so far to put down 330hp/415ft lbs at the rear wheels using 4.10s.

I keep thinking about the LPE 219/219 and then I keep thinking about going with something like 232/236 .55+/.55+ 110.

Emissions testing is NOT required in my area.

Just curious to hear some suggestions. Sort of looking for that fine line between streetable and non streetable

Thanks

I think your on track for one of the bigger cams like your thinking, but I would tend more towards the 112 lsa to help tuning the streetability portion....and I am familiar with your ECM.... You might even think about a 113 if you are still contemplating doing nitrous at some point. You already know I'm thinking more towards the CC306 cam but on a slightly wider LSA becasue of the ATI.

Tell me more about your combo. Compression, rods, headers, and 1/4 mile times, etc etc. Thanks

I've seen 406ci superram engines go high 10s with the 219 cam. They work in big cubes just as well as the 350s.

GofasterFirebird,

I'm running close to 11:1 Compression
6 Inch rods on the 3.75 crank
flat top pistons
200cc Dart heads
with 1.74" hooker long tubes, 3" all the way back.

Can stand to do a little more tuning, however right I can get the car in the high 13s and my 60s average about 2.2.

High 13s? What mph? I am concerned about that time with the parts that you have.

I think none of those runs were with a good clutch right? You may want to post your dyo chart as well.....I think you're making the power to get low 13's and touching into the 12's on a good day. Your dyno numbers are very similar to mine so I don't see why you shouldn't see some improvements on those times.

OK here's the dyno chart with one of my best runs:

Ragtop88 is correct. My clutch was bad, tore that center hub right out of it and haven't been back to the track yet....

I think im just gonna bite the bullet and go with the LPE 219 and then try a larger cam then what I have now just to see....

That explains alot with the clutch and all. I think that with the 219 cam you cannot go wrong. But i doubt it likes those 4.10 gears. Make sure not to get caught up in .050 duration; look to see where that duration occurs!

I would leen towards a single pattern with a SR engine with heads that have a good i/e %. I myself am planning on a 224/224 when the time comes.
However, I think you're leaving alot on the table with your current setup. If you are putting 330 to the wheels and turning only 105 mph, something is wrong.
Those gears could be too steep for a SR engine, especially a big c.i. one, and if your clutch was bad......
I'd imagine you could pull around 110 with everything working right. Heck, I run close to 106 with an auto, theres no way I put down over 300 hp to the wheels.

Are those heads and intake ported?

The ZZX from TPIS would be a good one for a 400, or the extreme energy 236-236 lobes with more lift. The off the shelf cam has lower lift, so you will have to pick your own lobes from the catalog.

410 gears are way too much gear for the super ram setup its even too much for a 350 super ram i am running stock 307 gear and have went as high as 124 mph in the qtr and 98 mph in the eighth
