which intake would you rather have?
Are you talking on stock heads and cam? The whole combo has to be right, including the intake. Heads, cam, stall and gears are a must to get the most from either of these intakes. Personally, I say go ahead and get the Miniram or HSR, or LT1 like I did, and it will be the last intake you buy no matter how extreme you mod the car. What's your goal for the car?

Tom Pansey's?!? (sp) Isn't that supossed to be like the "best" thirdgen ever? Well, in the public's eye/magazine's anyway. Is it still in that condition? That car has looked like that even before i had my car like 5 yrs ago. Pretty sweet, except for the paint, IMO.

I would prefer the Super Ram because you loose a whole lot of torque with the mini and the smallest engine you could use a mini with would be a 383, if that.

Everyone has their own opinions obviously! You just need to pick which will suit your needs best. For a little more bottom end go with the SR, for top end MR, for a compromise of both HSR. If you do it by price, first you would pick the HSR, SR, and then the MR.
well super ram is out of the question, not only is it a pain in the butt to work with but there are plenty of places for vaccum leak problems. to many parts here and there.
thanks for all the replies guys!

The super ram gets a bad reputation for a good reason.......... its a multi piece intake manifold that requires many gaskets and of course runs a lot better chance of getting vacuum leaks......
The mini ram or LT1 manifold is a single piece manifold that is easy to work on, easy access to fuel system etc....... id say the miniram for sure, but you need a bigger engine for it..... if your going 350, id go LT1 intake.......

Despite the possibilty of vaccum leaks, I would STILL go with the superram. Maintain low end torque, whilst revving up to 6,000rpm... AND SMOG LEGAL! What the hell more could one ask for? All the other intakes are great, but only the Superram offers egr provisions. So what if it's a PITA to install? Lots of mods are a pain in the ***, but we do them anyway don't we?
final note on my opinion: Vaccum leaks are not a lethal threat anyhow. A heavy duty adhesive smeared over any seams b/w intake sections will ensure that a bad gasket wont throw a cog in your operation.

I'm thinking of cutting a hole in my hood to try out the stealthram though. I'm very with happy with the way my SuperRam performs for me.
I don't have any dyno #s or track times for you but my butt-dyno says there is a lot more umph there than there was before.
I've spun the tires thru 3 gears.
When Romp on it I can FEEL the frame tweak.
I need some SFCs . . .
And I've ran my 355 up over 6500 rpms with my SR.
I couldn't do that with my stock TPI.

Kandied 91Z, if you're going to build a combo to spin up to 7000 rpm, definately go with the Miniram or LT1.

That right there completely nullifies that post.
Had you tuned everything with the same gears a comparison would be fair. You have now completely changed the torque multiplication for your car making it all different. Supreme Member

. The majority of the people that I see having the tip-in lean miss problems (hesitation) are either people with off the shelf PROMs or DIY PROM tuners that alleviate the problem shortly after posting in the DIY PROM forum
. The Miniram is the $hit..... Just no way around that fact. Course..... it is quite a bit more $$$$$ than the other intake options out there...... Oh well

IVE POSTED THIS BEFORE< THE STEATH RAM IS THE BEST BY FAR AT MATCHING THE ENGINES PEAK and POTENTIAL HP CURVE IF YOUR GOING TO MODIFY THE ENGINE FOR MOR HP
Ive run all 4 common intakes
ported tpi
super ram
mini ram
stealth ram
the ported tpi gained me about 20hp over the stock TPI.(power range, 1500-4500rpm
super ram gained me about 45hp over the stock TPI(power range 2000-5500rpm)
the mini ram ram gained me about 55hp over the stock TPI but lost torque below 5000rpm(power range about 5500-7500rpm)
the stealth ram gained me about 68 average hp and close to 90hp at peak but lost torque below 4000rpm compared to the stock TPI intake (power range about 4000-6800rpm)
now keep in mind Ive got a full roller 383 11:1cpr with ported trickflow heads and full length headers, the stock TPI totally strangles that engines airflow above 4500rpm, so any intake system that flows more air lets the engine breath and produce better hp, the steath ram and the other intakes require a cam and headers to effectively use the better airflow

Not bad, but i am sure you have a lot more left in it! Or comapred to other set ups you should atleast. Good luck with the traction issues. And thanks for posting that-Bryan
