vacuum lines!?!

My brother changed my short block in my 87 GTA and I ended up with a nice bottom end and a loose wiring harness, and broken/loose vacuum lines....I can't figure out where they go. I already looked at a vacuum line diagram but its EGR solinoid only had 2 vacuum lines going to it, mine has 4???

FITTINGS-
the rearmost one on the back goes to where?
the one just in front of that goes to the FPR...got that one
the EGR valve goes to the solinoid, but which fitting?
the little one on the bottom front of the plenum goes to the solinoid AND the vapor canister???
what about the other 2 or 3 fittings on the solinoid...

and where does the cruise controls vacuum come from

i have a poor picture of the EGR solinoid I drew with paint, can you guys tell me whats what...thanks

This one might be clearer:

At least one of the ports on the EGR solenoid is an atmospheric vent, and has no line connected to it. Most I've seen only have two lines.

Ah, that worked. This is the above .bmp that GTA600 attached, so you don't have to download it..

Hey, thanks for putting that up, I wasn't sure how. Maybe the two little ones on the back are both vents...in that case there are only 2 and that makes it easier.

so there is a line going from the far rear of the plenum to the hvac...(which im not sure what is)

a line just in front of that going to the fuel pressure regulator.

a line running from the EGR valve to the #2 fitting on the solinoid drawing.

a line going from the #1 fitting on the solinoid drawing to the fitting underneath the front of the plenum which makes a T and goes to another T fitting close to the vapor cannister...?

Is that all the vacuum lines? Are there any for the cruise control?

is there any rubber tubing that is strong enough to make vacuum lines out of since mine are all broken?

Let's see...this is still pretty fresh in my mind.....

The EGR solenoid......Vader is right. There are only TWO lines going to it, and it doesn't matter which why they go. One line goes from the solenoid to the EGR valve itself. The other line goes to the port sticking out directly underneath the throttle body...it actually connects to a 'T' there, and then another lines continues away from the TB to the fuel evap canister.

The rear one on the plenum goes to the pass side of the engine compartment into a hard plastic vacuum line that runs inside the car, this feeds the HVAC ( Heater, Vent, AC ) this gives vacuum to open / close the air vents.

The one right next to that goes to the FPR.

On the pass side of the TB, there is a line that runs underneath the TB to the driver's side, which hooks up to a hard plastic line which runs the fuel evap canister.

Driver's side rear plenum, line goes to the brake booster.

Then there's the crankcase vent line on the driver's side. Should be a hardline hooked up to the VC vent, then connects to a line going into the TB pass front.

Driver's side rear of the intake, in between two runner tubes, this is the PCV feed to the driver's side VC.

At the moment I can't picture the Cruise....I'll try to remember to check tomorrow. Pretty sure it feeds somewhere off the back and runs around the driver's side fenderwell to the CC module. Mine is all there and hooked up, but the stupid previous owner had an "electrician" CUT the wire off at the turn signal stalk because of a no start problem?!?!?!?

Well, it does matter a little. One of the ports is for vacuum, and one is for the EGR valve servo. The vacuum line is valved to the servo when the solenoid is energized, and ported to nothing when the solenoid is de-energized. The EGR servo line is ported to the vacuum side when the solenoid is energized, and ported to the third opening (atmosheric vent) to relase the servo quickly when the solenoid is de-energized. If the vacuum line is installed in the wrong position, the EGR will still work, but the vacuum will be open to atmoshere when the solenoid is off, creating a small vacuum leak through the solenoid valve. It might be enough of a leak to cause problems.

Damn......

I tried it both ways back when I put it together and didn't see a difference...

What throttle conditions would the possible vacuum leak be most obvious?

Thanks
Chris
