They have a little tag welded to them above the collector, it says SLP.
Since they are really the only stainless headers of that type it'll be easy to tell.

hmm i don't remember mine having this tag. maybe i just never noticed it.

but SLP headers with AIR have the air tub sticking straight up, and they have seperate flanges for the tubes. one for the left tube, middle two tubes, and right tube. so thats three flanges. and they are THICK flanges too. almost all other headers have a single flange.

note the lack of rust(thick flaky), but not bright and shinny like a coating. That's stainless steel, I don't think anyone else makes SS headers so.

And the SLP tag tack welded to the tube, sorry I thought mine was welded more towards the collector end.

The older SLP headers did NOT have a tag on them. The design is exactly the same ... they just didn't have a tag. I'm pretty sure that there are more SLP headers out there without the tag than with the tag.

I had SLP 1-5/8" that did not have the tag. Now Ed Maher has them

Here's a good view/shot of mine.

<img src="http://home.centurytel.net/jza/89RS/images/89RS%20-%20Header%20Install%20-%20Jet-Hot%20Coating.jpg">

The big tell-tale is going to be the thick seperate flanges with the spacer tubes welded in place.

From what I have seen it looks like SLP started doing it about 3 years ago. I know my friend Synapsis has the tag but I don't and mine are about 4 years old.

Test them with a magnet, it will not stick to Stainless Steel. One sure way to check if they are SLP's.

I don't know about the magnet thing being they still do have some iron in them, they are a lower grade of stainless. mine are 1 3/4" bought them in 96 and they have no badge.

My friend has a set aswell that does't have the tag on them.. basically look at the flang that bolts to the head.. SLP's are quite thick up there.. compared to cheaper ones.. or they say take an AWL and try and scratch the inside of the collector.. you might put soem kind of scratch on it but it will wipe off.. Stainless metal is a little harder to scratch then plain steel ones..

It's 409 stainless which a magnet will stick to.
