Cold Can & other Q's
Have any of you used or heard of using a cold can (Super cool can)?
Also- what sort of mods are the first to do when you want more hp? I'm just learning all the car 'stuff' and am wondering if there's a site somewhere that tells you the break down of what all makes up your motor and what to work on to do improvements.
Thanks in advance!

if your truly interested i'd pick up one of the thirdgen books that most major book stores will carry. this will at least break down the different points of view and get the wheels started.
be forwarned. 5 years ago i asked the same question and now it has consumed me.

Oh I'm truly interested!....I've found a lot of info online though which is great. Lots of stuff to absorb. LOL. I refuse to be the girl with the cool car that can only drive it and doesn't know anything about it. My goal is to be able to work on it myself....to not be reliant on guys who have their own cars to work on....

as a matter of fact i was going to use a cool can on my V8 S10 but never got around to it, I know that cooler denser fuel makes more HP, if you want to make cheap HP just do all the free mods and etc....a homemade CAI for your Camaro isn't hard if it is TPI and after that get a full exhaust, headers, y pipe, catback exhaust and a high flow cat. Then look into a torque converter and a TransGo shift kit. Suspension mods are always good but are costly and some gears never hurt anyone if you go with the right combo for your mods....start with the free mods....AARON

FYI,
cool cans & cold fuel only works on carbureted or TBI engines,
but not on port injection. If you have TPI then it would be
ineffective.

BTW here are the mods that I know of...
Edelbrock headers
K&N Filters
Flowmasters
Lingenfelter cam
it still has a 308 gear
as for the front end, I had it checked out and it's shot so I'm getting it redone in the next few weeks.
Some other tinkering has been done but I can't seem to get info from 'the tinkerer'....

Your car sounds like a very good combo to start out with.
Which LPE camshaft does it have?
p.s. it sounds like maybe you went to get alignment and then they told you they need to replace a bunch of parts..? they always do that.
People end up spending $400 for a $40 alignment.

I don't know what size cam- how can I find out? I know it's a rolling cam .......
as for the front end, the shocks were making this terrible sound so I had it checked out (not just at some regular shop) and was told everything in the front end needs to be redone because it's worn out. I know suspension is important so I don't intent to skimp on that part.
Oh and right now my best time in it is 1/4 - 13.78 and 1/8 8.90..... and that was with slicks that are really too big for it....

Chicks that dig thirdgens rock.
Nice E/T!
For a good breakdown of how an engine works (if that's what your asking) can be found on http://www.howstuffworks.com

Thanks! Yeh 3rd gens are my fav
I did find that link and do at least know that very basic stuff... I did find a lot of info on mods that went step by step and info on what to do when but I guess a lot of it boils down to just learning as you go and starting somewhere with some hands on.
