my car in gm-hitech :)

Just got the new issue and noticed 2 pics of my car in it. There is a pic of my engine with the story on the iroc with the stealth ram. mine is pic of the stealth ram car with the hood up to show what mods you do to the hood for a firebird hood. the other is in the bristol bash section of the mag. whn you see all the f-body's line up mine is the first in line next to my friends 99 ram air just thought id share the info it was cool to see that.

You know what I can't find that magazine, for the life of me. I got one issue and it was a fluke that I even found one. Never heard of it, but seen on the cover it had TPI tips. So I picked it up at a store in Tal, FL. now I can't find one anywhere. What stores do you guys find them at?

After reading about the bristol event I also noticed they mentioned the Georgia F-Body association as well. We had lots of cars from the gafba go along in the police escorted tour from year one to bristol that was one of the most fun things I have done!

There's a few reasons. I know a lot of the guys that were in the recent LT1 shootout and they had a couple of their buddy's up there too. They changed the rules the day of the event which eliminated a coulple of our cars from the competition. Secondly, most of the cars in there just suck. They'll have a heads/cam LS1 running 12.50's! Come on now, put some headers and an air box on an LS1 and it'll go 12.50's. Heads/Cam/headers/clutch will put a car into the low 11's. On top of that, someof those cars have more mods ( like a power adder) and they can't break out of the 11's. Not saying all of their cars are like that, just a good majority of them. Plus the guys are d1cks. A couple of them post on one of our regional boards ( easternfbodyassociation.com) and say some off-kilter stuff.

Nasty Bird 90,

We never changed the rules for our LT1 bolt-on shootout. In fact, every invitee who came got in our story except for one. This one guy was a little too loud for our dB meter. We still wanted to let him run, but we decided to let the participants vote whether to let him stay. One participant voted to throw the offender out. Later on, we ran the offender's car as a feature anyway to make up for it. (Bill Plummer's Trans Am is a really neat car, just for the record.) Everybody who was involved in this story was well taken care of and the rules were evenly enforced.

As far as any LS1 cars go, the one car with an LS1 nose was actually an LT1 which had been involved in an accident. Its owner opted to repair it with an LS1 nose. We have not done an LS1 shootout, so I don't quite understand the beef here, just another case of non-knowledge I guess. (Is he complaining about editorial yet to be written? If so, what can I say in defense of his psychic ability?)

I'm not aware of anything off-kilter said by any of our staff members. I rarely frequent the Eastern F-body board so I don't know who it could be. If I found out about anything said by my staff on-line which was insulting, undignified or profane, there would be some serious butt-kicking around the office. I know one thing though, calling someone a "d1ck" without provocation would certainly qualify as off-kilter, especially when that person doesn't have a real name or location!

The real issue here that needs explaining to everybody else is your dislike of GMHTP. So that everybody will understand, you personally dislike us because we declined to cover the Eastern F-body event.

This is another fairness issue. If we cover this regional event, then we'd have to cover all the regional events around the country and we just don't have the resources or pages to do this. How would the guys in the Las Vegas F-body or the GaFBA clubs feel if I covered Eastern's event but not theirs? This was explained to the Eastern F-body people, but this Nasty Bird 90 guy needs to grind his axe every time our magazine's name comes up. This PR expert is well on his way toward cementing his whole club's fate in regards to our magazine.

Tony, to my knowledge, I'm the only person from GMHTP (or any other magazine) that posts on your club's message board. While you may not have agreed with what I posted, I want to make sure I'm the person you are calling names and there isn't someone else either from our magazine or claiming to be from our magazine that is posting on your club's message board.

I don't recall calling anyone a d1ck. nor did I say that there was an LS1 shootout. I've seen some LS1's in the mag that, for their mods, are too slow. It just appears that you seem to overlook the cars that really deserve to have a feature in the mag (i.e. faster, better cars overall) and choose to highlight the less outstanding cars. I personally read the magazines to see what the fast guys are running and to keep up with the scene and I don't feel that GMHTP offers that. I like the mag. The writeups are decent and the tech is o.k, but the choice of feature cars is a little sad. When our shop cars are overlooked only to be chosen under some car that doesn't even come close, it aggravates me. I'm sorry if I struck a nerve, there is/was no flame intended and if you took it that way I apologize. I was merely speaking my mind based on how I see it.

You can get a subscription through amazon. It takes a little while to go ship, but if I can get it here, you should be able to get it anywhere.

If you all you want to read about is megabuck cars that run 10's, get a subscription for Popular Hot Rodding. (Sorry, Johnny )

I like reading about "slow" cars every so often. Sometimes a low 12 sec LT1 with barely any mods but lots of R&D is more interesting than the 383 with the huge cam, 12:1 compression and wicked heads that runs 10's o the bottle.

Don't like GMHTP? Here are some options for you:

1) Stop reading it
2) Start your own magazine
3) Stop bitching about it

NOSFEDGTA,

Good looking car. Tell me how she performs and tell me about your hood. I have a '88 formula but am a litte apprehensive about getting the HSR because of clearance problems.
